USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

@easy i have 3 classes each day ... the first two fridays we weren't in clinical yet so we had to still meet at school 8-430 but now that clinical began this week i no longer have the 8am on friday but instead my clinical shift at Laguna Honda is from 3pm to 12am...not too sure if the schedule is the same

The schedule changes every semester

afton, did you receive any instructions of things to complete last semester while on the waitlist...? (e.g. immunizations, cpr certification, etc.)

@gabe no the only thing they told us was to make sure to finish up classes that were pending if you had in progress classes!

thanks, afton...that was my fear. :p

i'm hoping to get that far into the selection process - to the waitlist. just thinking about how crazy stressful that might be to be admitted from a waitlist as classes are starting...not only in the scramble to meet admission requirements but sorting my life on such short-notice. i'd like to be able to give my employer a two-week notice...and my kids a heads up. oh well...it is what it is. thanks, again.

Of course! I've nearly forgotten about this cycle all together because I have my interview at Samuel Merritt for their ELMSN program tm morning! Totally excited but super nervous and prepping like crazy! Ekkkkk!!

awesome. good luck!!!))) i probably should have explored more program options. damned hindsight...gets me every time.

live and learn.

you hear back from any other programs this cycle...?

I learned that the hard way when I only applied to usf last cycle. Then I quickly got things ready for SMU and I'm so glad I did because I got an interview!! It's really stressful tho applying other places because everyone requires different things! They really make you jump through hoops lol!! I haven't heard back from anyone yet, I should know about this program about 2 weeks after the interview or sooner. So I think I'll know before I hear from usf. Can you believe we are already halfway through the waiting period?? Probably 4 more weeks and we will all know!!

i've managed to mostly forget about USF for a bit, but knowing rejections are starting has gotten me reading my PS again...and checking my email more often than usual for that dreaded, your-application-has-been-updated email. :p

yeah, so many programs have different requirements that it makes program specific preparation a must. it's hard to justify taking a class, or retaking a class, for the slim chance of getting into one specific program or another. i love the ones requiring a course completion within a few years of application. i'm not going back to school to repeat a class for a program with a 0.5-5% acceptance rate.

So do y'all who have applied before think we should be expecting rejections soon?? Ahh I'm nervous!

Hi everyone! Stumbled upon this forum as I was searching for another forum, but I'm a current CNL student at USF, graduating in the Summer. Wanted to give some pointers on the waiting process as best as I remember. I also had applied for the Summer 2015 program and received a call towards the end of March. A little "trick" that a few of us discovered was to check our application status and as long as it said "Submitted-to be reviewed after deadline", we were still in the game vs the "Submitted" disappearing and in place showing "Decision available", which was indicative of denied acceptance. Best of luck to all of you and keep your heads up :)

I got my first rejection letter yesterday from the University of Hawaii. It wasn't even one of my top choice schools but the rejection letter alone kind of stings and created some anxiety. I've been checking my status and email on my other 4 applications like crazy. I know at this point no news is good news but its still nerve-racking.
