Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?
i somehow keep finding myself reviewing my application, mostly rereading my personal statement - not like i didn't do that a thousand times before submitting the damn thing (let's completely ignore the reality that there isn't anything i can do about it now)...but still...i'm doing it...maybe looking for changes to make when i end up reapplying....
I literally did that during the whole cycle last time. LOL! And I have been doing it during this cycle too. Its hard not to. I almost wish we didn't have access to reviewing it because then I could stop obsessing over it lol. I just really hope I get in this time. Being on the waitlist SUCKED! All the uncertainty and wishful thinking for months :/ I think I will cry if I get on the waitlist again (not happy tears)
it's always nice to hear that other people are doing the same pointless thing...)))
reading your background makes me wonder whether i have a snowball's chance in hell of getting in...or even making the waitlist. i thought my application might be competitive - maybe it is, maybe i'm too critical of myself - but seeing an applicant with your credentials leaves me quite curious about those accepted. i'm fairly certain your application is more competitive than mine. i wish there was readily accessible information about the current and past cohorts - demographics, backgrounds, stats...some information...anything would be nice...
Hey guys I was admitted last cycle so I understand what you are all going through. As for demographics of who they let i it is really hard to say. For my cohort we are all a diverse group of people. Not everyone has a 4.0, there are some people with lower GPAs but with alot of experience, their are people with higher GPAs and not so much experience, and everyone in between. Their is really no way to know exactly what they are looking for because it depends on the applicant pool for that cycle you are applying to. Good luck with everything if you have any questions let me know! Im actually in class right now so I should be paying attention haha
Good luck @md! Good to see you on here again. Let us know how the first semester goes. And to second that yes @gabe don't compare yourself to anyone else because it's definitely subjective. They look at every applicant equally and they want a diverse cohort so people from all backgrounds and walks of life. You have just as good a chance! So don't be discouraged!!!
thanks @afton! its been a while. first semester is hectic. they throw everything at you im taking 6 classes (one of them is clinicals) and it is just hard to keep track of everything. literally my month for feb i have something due everyday or some practical skill to get checked on. its only the second week and I am already doubting myself lol
@afton program is not really organized right now.. we have a new professor from John Hopkins who gets confused about which class she is teaching (she teaches 4 of our classes). hoping it gets better. Orientation was long ... My first clinical day is next friday. The past 2 fridays we have been learning how to take vitals (BP, rectal temperature, HR, etc) @gabriel i am in lecture 11-6 on monday , thursday 8-6 , the past 2 fridays are 8-5 but since clinicals will be starting my shift is 3-midnight. im on campus 2x a week but will start going more often for open lab to practice skills ... there is always something to do.
Hi @md. Thanks for giving us an idea how your courses are stretched out throughout the week (including clinical). I just wanted to confirm that you have classes on Mondays between 11-6, Thursdays between 8-6, a few Fridays that are 8-5 (3-12am on a different shift).
How many classes are for each day? Do you know if this schedule is consistent each semester or does it change?
