USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

Keep your head up it's good that you applied to other programs!!! You have plenty of options!!

I just had my interview for the ELMSN program at Samuel Merritt yesterday and waiting to hear if I've been accepted. If I get into both SMU and USF I'm choosing SMU. This whole process is so stressful!

Hope you all are keeping busy!!

yeah, i put all my eggs in the USF basket. not regretting it...yet (fingers-crossed)...though i'd probably be feeling a little less anxious if i had spread out my options. definitely not the smartest thing to do...but i'm getting a good idea of some other places to apply next time around from this forum...if there is a next time.

good luck, afton, with SMU. yet another program i need to look into. what sells you on SMU over USF...?

@gabe ya don't worry too much it will all workout! Hoping you get into usf first try!!!

After my interview yesterday I really thought about what I wanted. The interviewer and I had a great discussion about case management and how in demand it is. As we all know, it is difficult for any new grad to get a job in the Bay Area. The CM students at SMU are constantly being recruited by Kasier and other big hospitals before they even graduate to come work for them. My friend who works at Kasier says there are constantly postings for case manager RNs that aren't being filled. As opposed to the CNL degree which doesn't have much use yet in hospitals, I think I prefer the case management specialty. Another thing is that I am seeking a new experience. I went to USF for my undergrad and feel like I want to experience something new. SMU has an amazing rep in the Bay Area and all the faculty I met yesterday were so nice. Lastly, it's much closer to my house than USF. Although I don't mind commuting, it would be nice to have less of a commute for a change!

Ive heard people hear back after their interview between one day and one week after. I'm glued to my phone and can't focus on anything else today! It's torture lol

Hi everyone,

Just out of curiosity, has anyone received a phone call from USF? I missed a call early last week from a 415 number and they didn't leave a voicemail. I actually looked that number up today and it says it was from USF. Now I wished I had picked up that call, wondering what it could have been about. Anybody hear back about anything so far?

Yes that happened to me a few times in the last 2 weeks. Super weird

Hi! Did you happen to get a hold of them about it? I'm just so curious as to what the call was for. I did email the nursing department about when we would start hearing back

@afton, I was going over an old post and you had mentioned you have access to USF's course schedule. Is it too soon to see what the summer semester looks like; which days/time the courses land on?

I never followed up because it is way too early to hear about acceptances yet!

The summer schedule hasnt hasn't been released yet but when it does come out I'll definitely look that up for you guys and post it here :)

In other news I've been accepted to Samuel Merritt!!!! I'm so excited!!! Just got the email!!

@Afton Congratulations!! :DThat's soo exciting! Are you going to accept prior to USF's decisions coming out?? I'm so anxious! Can't believe we have to wait another month :arghh:

awesome. congratulations, afton!!!)))

Thanks guys!! I'm def accepting the offer! I'm going to go ahead and plan on attending SMU!!!! We will see what happens where I hear from usf but if I were to get in I'd most likely be giving up my spot! I'm just so happy to be in somewhere and it's my top choice!
