Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?
I would def commute. I live in the east bay and commuted on Bart and muni during undergrad and work/volunteer stuff in SF. It's not that bad you get used to it! I would leave my house about 2 hours before class started just because I liked to get there early! The housing isn't good for grad students, it is limited and most students get studios/rent rooms near campus instead! I think the price range for those is between 800-1400 a month depending how big the room is.
Ya I agree I know a few people who went through the CNL program and quite a few good friends who went through the BSN program at USF and everyone loved it and recommends their nursing program! USF does get the most applicants out of all the schools in this area though because they don't require any extrance exams or extra classes. Last cycle (spring) everyone who got accepted heard back right at the 8 week mark and it was a Friday, then on Monday the waitlisters got a letter in the mail, and the denials went out via email scattered from the 4 week mark and on until the 8 week mark. Hopefully we all hear by mid March!
They call all accepted students on the same day. Waitlisters get notified via mail (like I did), and denials go out via the email you provided on the application. They only call accepted students, the same day they mail out there acceptance packets so they receive those a few days later.
nah...i only applied to USF. i know it's a long shot, but who knows. at this point, i'd be thrilled to make the waitlist. i just finished pre-reqs in the fall, so i'm still looking into back-up plans. if i'm not admitted this summer, but make the waitlist, then i'm sure i'll reapply. if denied, i'm going to shoot for MPH entry with USF and try for MSN later down the road. hoping for entry right off the bat. here's to crossed fingers and toes...

Same! Do you think you would commute? How is the housing?
