USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

I just checked my application and I didn't get into the program but I wish you all the best of luck!

Yeah...didn't get in either :/ good luck to all of you! Hang in there!

No news if def good news until you hear anything different! Around week 8 we should be expecting calls/emails/letters for acceptance, denials, and waitlists!

@gabe oh ya lol same for me poor guy had to deal with a lot so I'm SURE he's super stoked that I'm finally accepted into a program, little does he know it's probably gonna get a lot worse when I'm stressed/overwhelmed for the next 2.5 years!!! Lol

Aw man I'm sorry to you guys! I didn't see those comments before I wrote that last one. Keep applying and you will get in somewhere! I wish you all the best!!!! Try not to dwell on it too much. Keep your heads up!

Sorry to those who didn't get in. What's everyone's next plan? Also, is there a link on your 'My Application' page that shows you've been denied? Mine shows this:

[h=4]APPLICATION STATUS: SUBMITTED success.gif[/h]

[h=4]APPLICATION COMPLETE - TO BE REVIEWED AFTER DEADLINE[/h]

I've read from previous post that there is no indication if you've been denied or accepted based on the status change. However, I'm curious how people found out they were denied. I'm slightly going crazy :no:. Just slightly.

thank you for updating us...i hope you all were smarter than this guy and applied to multiple programs. good luck to everyone...those who know and those who don't. if you have applied to other programs, would you mind sharing. i'm always looking for additional programs i for which i might qualify without having to take additional prerequisites.

yeah, afton...lucky for me, though, my wife is an RN since 2011 and working on her FNP, so she knows the hell ahead more intimately than i do. although supportive, i'm sure she was tired of how much i obsessed over my PS - am still obsessing over it. :p

honestly...she probably did hers in an hour or less, but her FNP program is local and admissions included an interview and three LORs. i spent an enormous amount of time on mine over weeks...working with medical educators to refine it - i work at UCSF, fresno with the chief of family medicine, an emeritus professor, a former UCSF dean, and an emerita FNP professor and head researcher at stanford (hoping all that bolsters my application)...kind of felt like i needed to give that level of attention given the importance it carries with USF.

of course, my wife is a little upset with me already because i declined a seat in a local ASN program when i decided on the long shot USF play. my initial plan was ASN to license, then a year or two of work to qualify for a local MSN program - fresno state. anyway...hard to justify a 5-6yr plan when there was a chance at reducing it all to the same 2yrs it would take for the standalone ASN. of course, everyday that passes, i'm thinking about how i should have applied to additional programs... :p

Sorry to all those who found out they weren't accepted :(

To everyone else still waiting: we're all in this together!

APPLICATION COMPLETE - TO BE REVIEWED AFTER DEADLINE

I've read from previous post that there is no indication if you've been denied or accepted based on the status change. However, I'm curious how people found out they were denied. I'm slightly going crazy :no:. Just slightly.

Last year when I was rejected my status changed from green font to orange font and it read "Decision Available" (which was a link). The link then took you to the letter that I late received in the mail notifying me that I had been denied acceptance.

My still reads "to be reviewed after deadline" too so I think we may still be in the running. I'm towards the end of the alphabet though (by last name) so I'm trying not get my hopes up too much. Not that that fact necessarily matters but at this point I'm just paranoid and anxious.

Thanks @aposse, that's good info. I've lost count how many times I've checked my status, but my status is still green . Did you apply to other schools?

Same here, @Easy. I think I've checked my application at least a dozen times so far today.

I also applied to University of Hawaii's GEPN (received my rejection letter last week), SF States' ELMSN, Johns Hopkins' MEPN, and Samuel Merritt's ABSN. How about you?

HI @aposse. This is the first nursing school I've applied to. Like @gabriel, I'm putting all my eggs in one basket. If I don't get accepted to USF, I was thinking about other Bay Area nursing schools. I know I should really look into applying to other schools, but because I know people who have graduated their MSN/DNP program and have given their own personal experience, I don't have the desire to apply to other schools. To top it off, no GRE required.
