USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

@easybreezy yes I took Bart from the east bay every day and then took muni! I am one of those people who gets very stressed if I'm not 30 min early so I would always leave way earlier than needed because often times Bart and muni were running late or had delays. I would always leave my house at least 2 hours before my class started. I would get off the Bart on Powell street and walk up the stairs and then the muni stop was right there on market street. From there you can take the 5, 5L, 31, or 21 but everyone mostly took the 5 because it is a nicer route that doesn't go through any super bad areas (31 goes straight through tenderloin). Also depends on where your first class is, 5 drops you off by the St. Ignacious church and the 31 drops you off on the lone mountain side of campus! Commuting really wasn't bad because you get used to it and you get extra hours in the am to sleep or study!

That's really helpful. I'm actually the same way. I'm very coordinated in time, so I need that breathing room, or i'll have panic attacks. I'll most likely take that same route; take the Fremont Station all the way to the City. Also, if I were to get in to the program, I may do a dry run (really an excuse to go to the city lol :roflmao:) to gain familiarity since I rarely use Muni.

i'm the same way. i'll definitely be doing a dry run, too...granted i have cause to do so. :p

thank you, afton, for the details. that'll help a lot. your contributions here and in last cycle's forum have been invaluable...and much appreciated.

No problem guys happy to help! I did a dry run too a few times before I started classes that way I wasn't stressed the first day!! I also stopped into the book store and got some gear and also found all my classrooms. You guys will def want to do that before hand because usf has it set up weird. The main campus has classrooms and then the lone mountain campus has classrooms but you have to walk up the street and across to get to lone mountain. Then they also have buildings about 2 blocks down the street that you will have classes in and that's where the SIM lab is so it's def helpful to get a feel for where everything is! Many of my great friends went through the BSN program there so I've heard a lot from them. Please let me know if you have more questions!

I averaged 5000 steps each day on my commute with walking to Bart/muni and walking to classes, so you get a good workout in. USF also loves to set up classes so that you have 10 min to get from one end of the campus to 3 blocks down the street at another building. Many running sessions to get to class on time while sweating and panting when you enter class hahaha. Also the lone mountain campus has a million steps to get up so that's a good workout, good times...... lol!

@afton, are both locations far from each other? Meaning, are you rushing to get from part of the campus to the other w/ the allotted 10 min. Also, the steps will help w/ my weekly Fitbit challenge if I were accepted .

They are a good 10 min walk away from when you leave one class and go to another if it's in lone mountain or the other building down the street. Especially if your professsors like to go past the end time with lecture and you have to be down the street within 10 min lol but if I walked fast I always made it in time haha

two weeks to go...i hope. :p

I was just thinking about that this morning!!! I've been so busy getting all these dang requirements done for Samuel Merritt that I keep forgetting about USF LOL hope these next 2 weeks go by quick for you guys! I'll be interested to see my decision too after that terrible wait last semester!

Would they call on the 9th and/or 10th?

Ya I am guessing it could be the 9th or 10th, or any day the next week. That is my best guess!

Luckily I have a mini vacation starting this Wed. to not think about it; but i'll certainly keep an eye out for a 415 call.
