USF ABSN 2017

Hi! Anyone applying for USF (University of South Florida) ABSN for 2017? I can't seem to find anyone!

I believe second degree for nursing gets 180 credit hours before the surcharge applies. Most of us have around 120 credit hours (since we all have bachelor degrees) and the nursing program is 60 something credits. So you are only paying a surcharge on that difference. I think when I calculated mine I would have 187 credits total so I am only paying the surcharge for 7 of them. I imagine most of your numbers would be similar to that!

Thank you so much! I remember seeing the 180 credits on another schools site for their program but not USF's. This makes me feel better!

Is this excess surcharge thing is a little odd. I GET why they do it, but in my first degree program, I took extra classes just for "fun" my last year or two of college. It would stink that you feel pressured not to do that because of this extra charge. It looks like not ALL of my classes transferred over, I think if they had I would have had to pay quite a bit more in excess.

Hey! Did you graduate from FSU? I am a FSU grad :) I live in Jax so I will be looking for places to live in Tampa. I don't know the area well, but I am already doing some research on some apartments close to campus.

What places were you looking at online? I toured some places today and have one in mind:)

Hey is anyone else having difficulty making a reservation online for a transfer orientation? According to the welcome email we received, without attending USF orientation (which is separate from the nursing student orientation) we would not be able to register for any classes. However, when attempting to make a reservation online it says that the April 21 session is closed......=/ and there are no more available slots to choose from.

Am I just mistaken or anyone else encounter something similar?

What places were you looking at online? I toured some places today and have one in mind:)

I was looking at The Province, 4050 Lofts, and a couple others but some had bad reviews lol. I lived in U Club on Woodward in Tallahassee so I'm looking for something similar to that if possible :) what places did you look at? I need to get down there ASAP so I can tour some places too!

I looked at the Social and the rates seemed pretty good, but may still look around. A lot of them didn't have units open for summer, but possible sub leases.

The excitement is killing me, so I've worked on a schedule with what it says on OASIS:

1. NUR 3125-53522 Pathophysiology for Nursing Practice (4) MW 8:30AM - 10:30AM MDN 2007 S. McGhee

2. NUR 3145-53526 Pharmacology in Nurse Practice (3) MW 10:45AM - 12:45PM MDN 2007 C. Zambroski

3. NUR 3026-53470 Fundamentals of Nursing Practice (4) MW 2:00PM - 4:30PM MDN 2007 M. Culp

4. NUR 3026L-TBA Fundamentals Clinical (4) - 5 different locations from what I understand, so it depends on where they send us.

Doesn't say days or times.

- STJ (St. Joseph's Hopital): Tampa (on W. Dr. M.L.K King Blvd.)

- TGH (Tampa General Hospital): Tampa (Davis Islands)

- VA (Veteran's Hospital): Tampa (on Bruce B. Downs near USF)

- MPM (Morton Plant Mease Hospital): Clearwater

- Manatee (Manatee Memorial Hospital): Bradenton

5. NUR 3066-54237 Physical Exam & Assesment (2) TR 8:00AM - 12:00PM MDN 2002 J. Thayer

I got this info between OASIS and the email Ms. Lopez just sent us, but don't live by this. We won't see our actual schedules until Orientation I believe. I kind of also wanted an idea of where people would have preferred to go or where they are likely to be sent based on their zip codes.

I'm hoping for Mease, TGH or St. Joe's (my husband works there a lot, so that could be fun). I live out by Westchase so my commute to USF is going to suck most days.

I'm so excited! I hope you guys got the Orientation thing straightened out. I took my pre-reqs at USF so I already took the orientation late 2015.

Hey Lily D, hope you were able to resolve your orientation issue. I got an email this morning saying "Your major code has been updated. You will now be able to register for orientation." I was then able to register for orientation without any further issues! Hope everything works out on your end!

I emailed them today and they fixed it so I could sign up. Thank you though!
