Hi! Anyone applying for USF (University of South Florida) ABSN for 2017? I can't seem to find anyone!
Mainly the immunizations to be honest. Even though the vaccine requirements were posted on USF's website, I didn't actually think I'd be accepted so I didn't try to get a head start on them heh.For the flu shot, it says "Submit documentation of a flu shot administered during the current flu season (August-March) OR a declination waiver. The renewal date will be set for 10/15 of the following flu season. Do NOT submit to this requirement until you have received the current season's vaccine." Seeing as how it is already April, if I didn't get a flu shot prior does that mean I missed my window and have to decline?
Ahhhhh I gotcha! Had me worried there. It's hard keeping up with all the stuff we have to do ahead of time. My LPN school used Castle Branch and they would say not to worry about it until the next seasons vaccines were out. I don't know this schools policy but it would be a little odd if they had a problem with it (especially in the summer lol.) I wouldn't worry too much and just ask the advisor during registration or I'm sure they will cover it in the orientation.

Most immunization records can be sent pretty fast from your doctors office. If there are any titers/vaccines that you need, you can usually get those from the "minute clinics" (cvs etc).
I haven't done my castlebranch package yet, I was waiting until I got back from vacation in 2 weeks because I don't want to have to pay for the drug test twice (I will be gone for 5 days).
USF already has my immunization records, I wonder if I'll somehow have to resubmit them? I also got a flu shot, but I didn't keep the receipt or anything. I'm sure they can look me up.
I'm getting excited!
Is anyone else not immune to HepB? I am not sure what to do because this vaccine is a series of 3, which means it takes a couple of months to complete the process (I've already had my first shot, just need the last two). I got these vaccinations at birth, just not immune to it anymore I guess. I know the requirements have to be done before the first day of classes so I'm kind of freaking out! I guess I'll contact someone from the CON to see what they say.

Did you end up getting an answer?
I know, that is the tough part of starting in the summer. Might have to get a sublet until August and then do a 12 month lease til next August. I am going down to Tampa on Friday to look at some places. I am going to look at The Province, 4050 Lofts, The Social, and Campus Club. I know you looked at the Social. Did you check out any of the others I listed?
Sorry I just saw this but how did your aparatment search go? I haven't looked at any of the others besides the Social but I'm going again this Saturday.
Anybody else needing the Tdap (Tetorifice, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) vaccine? My doctor's office only provides the vaccine to children, not adults. They said to try the Health Department, which I called, $57 for one shot. Cheaper alternatives are welcome if anybody has one :)
I don't know if you're already in the Tampa area, but I went ahead and made an appointment at USF's Student Health Services and got all my immunizations and titer checks done there. I don't remember what all the prices were, but I think they're pretty cheap and the prices are listed in one of the orientation links. If you need it I can try to find it for you!
Thanks! I just checked their fee for the Tdap, it's $42, cheaper than Health Department :). I have an appointment with my PCP on Wednesday, but they have already told me that the insurance only covers certain things supposedly, like the TB Test, Hep B titer, and varicella titer, but not the Tdap. I guess I'll find out on Wednesday for sure what I'll still be needing to do. At least now I have a back-up with USF's Student Health Services, so thank you!

I have an appointment there late April to get my immunizations and titers done also. Did you get everything done (all 5 requirements) and did you have to wait very long to get the results? I'm going to try and hunt down some of my records, but i have a feeling I'm still going to need a few of them.
