I am afraid that I am going to forget stuff over this summer break. I supose I could re-crack my books every few days to keep up. I was just wondering, aside from maybe working, how every one is staying fresh during their summer breaks.

I start nursing school in the fall and I was thinking of studying a little Pharm to give myself a head start. I don't plan on burning myself out before I start school, but I can't hurt to look over things a couple of times a week. I would just like to make things a little easier for the fall. I don't have the best memory, so I learn best when I do it over a longer period of time (I can't cram at all!)

Don't do that. I said I was gonna study over summer break after my first semester, but I never opened a book.

I didn't forget a thing.

I've checked out 2 NCLEX study books from the local library (I never knew how many nursing related books they have!) and have been doing a practice test each day. Last night I did the cardiac and perfusion unit and only scored a 70% :chair:

I start nursing school this fall too. I am doing interpersonal communications and intro to psych this summer to get them over and done with.

So far my summer is very productive. I'm working at the hospital on an acute floor as a tech. I am also taking a BIO course for my BSN (I am an ADN student). I am hoping to kick butt in Med-Surg because of how I am spending my summer. I gave myself a break from NCLEX CDs and my fundamentals textbook, however I plan to start reviewing again so information becomes ingrained in my psyche before second semester starts.

Have a good, productive, and relaxing summer everyone! I will join an "accountability" thread if anyone starts one!

Working an internship in an ER for the first half of the summer; reading trashy fiction (lol); and planning to spend some time reading a pathophysiology "Made Incredibly Easy" book at some point and perhaps some pharmacology, too....

:yeahthat:

I'm doing my externship on a cardiac tele floor through the end of July, currently re-reading King's "The Stand" unabridged 1100 page version, casually studying cardiac rhythms and riding rescue.

So far my preceptor and the rest of the staff on the floor are great. While I can't administer meds, I'm getting to practice pretty much everything else, especially time management and prioritization.

i start in the fall, but i am taking advanced physiology right now which is keeping me more than fresh :)

that and reading all the student assistance threads on careplans to get my brain used to the idea of them....

I'm going to Europe for a month to forget about nursing so when I come back to school in September I am excited to start learning again.

Specializes in ICU.
