USC New Grad summer 2011?

U.S.A. California

Hey! Just wondering if anyone else applied for USC's Versant program. I applied on the 13th (1 day before applications closed) for CVTICU & the abdominal tx ICU. Would be interested to see who else applied, and for which units. Good luck to us all :lol2:

Okay so I emailed the lady who is in charge of the breakfast "meet and greet" on Friday. She said theres 2 spots for CVTICU and 2 spots for cardiac ICU. Interviews will be scheduled from June 6-July 1st (there was a mistake on the website with the dates). Formal verbal and written offers are from july5-july10. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck guys!

Thanks for emailing her and sharing the info. What's the difference between the CTICU and Cardiac ICU? So does that mean that there are 4 spots for the 12 of us interviewing? I left her a voicemail today so if she calls back I will share more info!

Congrats x a million to all of you who were invited! Out of curiosity, for those of you who are going to interview for CTICU or cardiac ICU, did you do a preceptorship in an ICU?

I did my preceptorship in a cardiac Stepdown unit

I did mine on a telemetry unit. It wasn't mentioned on my application. I don't think that where the preceptor-ship was done mattered to them.

i did my preceptorship on a CTICU but i took care of MICU patients too.

Does anyone know anything about the meet and greet breakfast this friday? Is it really important? I dont know can I make it or not. help.....

I emailed ----. And she said it won't affect your opportunity for an interview but I'll be attending even though I'm from the bay area because I think it shows how interested you are in their program. It's too competitive to not go, I think.

I emailed ---- as well. She said she will start calling us to set up interviews after the brunch on Friday (for those who cannot make it on Friday). She also said the CTICU is interviewing 12 and hiring 4 people.

I think that it might not reflect negatively if you don't go to the brunch, but I think that USC will *remember* those who made the effort to the brunch - especially since it's so competitive. But, that's just my :twocents:

(At this point in the game, I would think that the only exception would be that you have a job interview somewhere else that morning...)

So is there anyone else besides me who is interviewing for a non cardiac/CVT ICU unit?

If my math is correct, there were 23 applicants CC'd on my email. If 12 of them are interviewing for the 4 cardiac/CVT ICU spots, that leaves 11 interviewees for 6 other positions (10 total spots). My two choices were the hem/onc/bone marrow transplant M/S unit and the abdominal transplant M/S unit. Does anyone know which other units they are hiring in?

SoOo glad I was able to take my bro's car and make it there!!! :yeah: It was totally worth it! I'm in love...LOL.

To update everybody who wasn't there or didnt talk to T**** at the end:

-35 (36?) people are in the running for 10 spots

-18-20 weeks program

-Calls will be made starting on Monday (6/6) to schedule the in-person interview that will last till July 1st.

-3-4 people panel interview that will last for an hour.

Thats all I can think of on top of my head for now...been a looong day >_
