USC New Grad summer 2011?

U.S.A. California

Hey! Just wondering if anyone else applied for USC's Versant program. I applied on the 13th (1 day before applications closed) for CVTICU & the abdominal tx ICU. Would be interested to see who else applied, and for which units. Good luck to us all :lol2:

We are all so quiet! Were is everybody, how are the interviews going? Having to wait for more than 2 weeks to have any answer is a pain in the neck!!!

Do u know why they are having us wait two weeks? I feel so bummed about my interview. I was way too nervous and could not find the words I wanted to use. :(

I was also wondering why it takes so long, unless they are contacting our references and need to allow plenty of time. For those applying for hem/onc/BM, did you tell them your preference was for days, nights, or it didn't matter? I told them days since I know my body would never allow me to do nights. I was so impressed by all the NMs in these units. And they were super nice during the interview. Really hoping for the best on this one!

Conure girl,

I told them days. I wonder if it matters.

The interviewers are really nice! i actually really enjoyed the interview. Time flew by so quick i didnt even know it was an hour already. The questions were hard tho! Nothing you can prepare for. so deep!

I told them i dont mind working nights because i am a night person.

siigh....i just hope they can make a decision asap....

Hey Everyone,

Congrats to those of you who had their interviews already!! What unit were they for, CTICU and Med-Surg?? I have a little less than a week more to go befor my interview and I'm so nervous! Trying to prepare for an interview is so hard! Any tips? I am sure that we are not going for the same unit if yall already had your interviews, but any advice would be great. I can't believe they are having yall wait 2 weeks to hear anything back! What did they say the next step would be,....a call or email offer?

Hi Caligirl75,

I understand what you're going through right now. prepping for an interview is not easy at all! Please dont be nervous! (i know, easier said than done) I interviewed for the CTICU and it was a 4 people panel interview. They were all really nice and it was more like a conversation to get to know me than a formal interview. They had a set of qtions to ask me, but almost half the time i was off topic talking about something else (as mentioned, it was more like a conversation). I didnt get any clinical questions, mostly behavioral. They asked me questions that I dont think I can prepare for. Its really based on how you feel. My advice to you is to relax and be yourself during the interview. Their whole purpose of an hour long interview is to get to know your personality. So dont stress yourself out. just take a deep breath, relax and let your personality shine. Trust me, they are not intimidating at all. Imagine yourself talking to a bunch of friends.

They told me they will contact me by phone or email between july 5-8th to let me know will i be invited to another breakfast "meet and greet/interview." Then from there on, they will select the people who will get hired. So i guess there is going to be a 2nd interview? However, dont take my word for it because they may do it differently for other units.

Good Luck!!!

Hi NurseChau,

Thanks for the response and encouragment! That is good to know yours had an element of conversation and not just question after question!! Wow...I can't believe there is another breakfast and interview!! That is a lot...considering we already had a breakfast and 1 hour interview!! Some other places (i.e. UCLA) base everything off of a 15-20 minute interview! Well again, thanks for the encouragement and I wish you the best of luck!

Has anyone heard anything?

I haven't heard anything yet from the hem/onc/BM transplant unit. I was hoping that "after July 4" meant this week, but who knows.
