US retrogression update

Published

Hi! does anyone know the latest news bout the US retrogression? when will it be lifted if so?

I am waiting already for 3 years since I got my priority date. Since July 2006 I never heard a news about it lifted again.

please help..thanks

you could see your priority date on the receipt that the US embassy will issue when you finish all the requirements.

it is your hard copy and proof that your papers are already processing and your waiting to be scheduled for an interview before they give you a visa.:paw:

hey! your both right!

actually because of the agony of waiting for the US interview...I applied for Canada and now processing CARNA.

Is it ok if I make it a race which ever would come first?:imbar

I too came to Canada after getting fed-up waiitng for the US. Like SD I'm genuinly happy here, as are my kids, so I too & won't be pursuing the USA anymore.

could you tell me your story on how you process your visa to canada? how long and how much? who to talk to and how?

I'm already processing CARNA and waiting for an LMO that would come from my agent.

I would like to know if I'm on the right track...

I want to get my husband as soon as I get there.

I have no kids yet.

thanks for replying guys:up:

When you submit your application to the Canadian embassy make sure you include your husband plus if he wants to work he needs to also complete the same paperwork, which is included in with yours.

this will explain it all http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/index.asp

Why not just apply for a working visa? A H1B visa?

Im also waiting patiently for my PD, and I guess trying a new country aside from US is really something to look up too, some of my friends are already scattered around the world, and Im still here waiting (bump!)

About working visa, they said that its not that easy to get one, you must have specialties like nurse anethetist etc. and is it true that once you already applied for EB3 visa you cannot apply for EB 1 anymore?

You need to meet EB1 requirements and that usually is for outstanding abilities so as a nurse getting EB1 I would expect someone with numerous years experience and specialist in their area. If you do meet that requirement there is nothing stopping you filing under that category and EB3 can be cancelled

Have you read any of the threads in the Cdn. fourm? Alberta Health Services has a hiring freeze and the few jobs that are available are restricted to internal applicants already working in the system.

Would New Zealand or Australia be another option? What about the UK or any other English speaking country? Or if you know another language other than English maybe you can go to that country. It takes years for someone to become fluent in a foreign language, and that's with continuous everyday practice. So I would suggest going to a country where you know the language. Good Luck

I am a year behind you and already feeling really frustrated!!!! It is predicted from my attorney to take another 3 years unless something changes. I have read that the prediction is that nothing will change or even be discussed until sometime in 2010 in part due to the economy, and in part due to the health reform bill being discussed being the priority right now. But comprehensive immigration reform will probably be something that is addressed at some point...but no guarantee that it will have anything in it that will bring schedule A which would truly be the only thing to bring about the desired change.

Why not just apply for a working visa? A H1B visa?

Because most nurses and most nursing positions do not meet the requirements for this visa. Plus, the employee can't "apply" for the H1B - you have to find an employer in this climate willing to sponsor and be financially responsible for the visa process... which isn't easy at the best of times. There really isn't any "just" about getting a work visa.
