UPENN BSN MSN 2020

Updated:   Published

With the application deadline in ~30 days I figured, why not make a thread for applicants? I could've sworn I started a thread for this last week but can no longer find it. I'm applying for the PMHNP speciality and although UPenn is a relatively new addition, I have fallen in love with their program. Looking forward to replies from everyone.

Hi Everyone! I applied to the BSN/MSN PMHNP track. I received an email 10/24 that I will be notified in the next few weeks if a formal interview is required. Looking forward to going through the admissions process with you all. ?

I didn't get a notification regarding an interview for psych ?? but I'm gonna keep positive thoughts

It honestly was just an email saying they had received all the documents they needed and your application was moving forward for review and that they’d contact you if a formal interview was needed.

Welp....I feel like a fool then. I got that email on the 23rd. Thank you for the clarification @selialy, seriously

@Psychme1929 You're not alone. I was so anxious yesterday because I thought I did not get that interview invitation email. And that can have lots of negative implications. However, I just realized I had already gotten that email on the 18th.

Exactly!!! Before I realized I thought oh no and was trying remain positive by thinking about how some people got interview invites at a random time. Glad to know I wasn't the only one!

I don't know when and what to expect... but I will try to focus on my midterms and to forget about the waiting. It just makes me nervous. Good luck to us and all people applying to this program and hope we can hear some good news in the near future.

I got obsessive about finding out when people started hearing back that's how I know ?. You're right though. I'm gonna try to focus on taking pre reqs I have left and working. Everyone has got this, just have to get past this dreaded wait.

Hi everyone! I applied to the FNP UofPenn specialty. I think overall my application was okay but what really messed me up was the interview video and the GRE.

I have research experience, was a CNA, and now am a lab assistant at a Level 2 trauma hospital in CA. But I don't know if this is enough because of the darn GRE and video. My research team did earn a grant from the EPA and I have a B.S in Cellular and Molecular Biology so hoping that makes my application a little more appealing.

Best of luck to everyone!!!

Honestly, I think a significant minority of applicants (or more) messed up the video interview. I agree with what someone said before that I think they present both options because they realize some people are better at oral essays than written and vice versa. I believe they will consider everything and will realize what you were trying to say from your personal statement. Especially since half the questions were literally the same, that's why they said it's ok if the answers are similar. I'm choosing to believe that.

I thought you did not have to submit your GRE if you have a 3.2 GPA or above!

That is correct! My GPA conferred on my B.S. is 3.16. My prerequisite GPA is 3.8. (I got a B in Micro everything else was an A)

A lot of my degree classes is what brought down my overall GPA i.e. Calculus series, Physics series, Gen Chem series, Organic Chem series, Biochemistry series, etc.

Hi everyone!

Question about interviews if anyone knows the answer--

I've applied for the BSN/MSN program, PMHNP specialty. After browsing last year's forum, it appears applicants were invited for video interviews before faculty interviews. Does that mean if we are invited for an interview, we will be doing another video interview first? Or was the video interview required for our application not required during last year's application cycle?
