UPENN BSN MSN 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

With the application deadline in ~30 days I figured, why not make a thread for applicants? I could've sworn I started a thread for this last week but can no longer find it. I'm applying for the PMHNP speciality and although UPenn is a relatively new addition, I have fallen in love with their program. Looking forward to replies from everyone.

Hi everyone! I am applying this upcoming 2021 cycle and was wondering if anyone has any tips on the video interview? It states that it can be up to 8 minutes so I am curious if it actually took the entire time. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated!

@matchaicedlatte mine came out to about 6 minutes. I literally wrote out a script that answered all the questions and semi-memorized it/ had it up on the computer as I recorded. I got into Penn this past year but ended up going to another school. Good luck!

Does anyone know the structure of the video interview?  Is there a break between each question or do we just go through all the questions in one shot?

Also, do you think it's frowned upon to basically read through a script (I plan to basically just have it up on my screen while I record)?  I don't want to miss any of my points and can't see myself explaining 8 minutes worth of information without getting super nervous.

I did this interview last year so I am not entirely sure if the structure of it changed since then. It's a straight shot video, no breaks and you get two attempts to record. I would practice a few times (or however many times it takes for you to be comfortable). I personally think reading a script would be frowned upon. I did not read off of a script and memorized what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it. I was accepted into the program.

Also for the video interview, it says we have two attempts...can you record twice and pick the best one, or if you choose to do a second attempt do you have to submit that second one (will the first one basically go away if you choose to do a second one)?

I watched one of the webinars and they said that if you choose to do a second video, the first one gets deleted.

Does anyone know if Penn accepts prerequisite from Portage Learning (accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education)?

Has anyone heard info from past students or Penn what the financial aid awards are like? Penn is SO expensive, but my dream school.... or does anyone have info in general about what students had to say about the program and what they liked about it?

Prospective applicant here for 2021 - the full time curricula is Summer to Summer so do we pay exactly one year of tuition or more? Around 46k?

Hi! Last time I spoke to financial aid it’s about $125k without living expenses! (I wish it was $46k).

Tuition is different than their normal undergrad!

Is the whole program 125k or 1 year is 125k?

Just the BSN... the masters is about another $65-$70 without living a year if you do full time
