With the application deadline in ~30 days I figured, why not make a thread for applicants? I could've sworn I started a thread for this last week but can no longer find it. I'm applying for the PMHNP speciality and although UPenn is a relatively new addition, I have fallen in love with their program. Looking forward to replies from everyone.

I am also applying! I chose the FNP specialty. I am super nervous and don't know what to expect. I am also curious about what the general applicant pool looks like when it comes to stats, GPA, actual healthcare experience, etc.
What little I did see from last year's forum was pretty impressive, although I unfortunately cannot remember specifics at the moment. I'm pretty sure GPA on average is at least 3.4 and above on a 4.0 scale. I still haven't turned in my application because I haven't perfected my video response. I know I can't keep putting it off though. Some current UPENN students have been attentive on last year's forum and answered questions if you wanted to get answers from people who have actually been admitted. My question is more so do they truly look at people holistically or do they eliminate off of certain stats? Most grad programs say they look holistically but some do more than others.

Hey everyone! I am also excited to be applying to UPenn for Pediatric Primary Care NP. Hoping to polish everything and get my application turned in today! I have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 (prereqs closer to 3.5). I have some research experience, am currently working as a chiropractic assistant, have my CNA certificate, and loads of volunteer experience in hospitals and in under-resourced communities. I am so grateful for these forums so it doesn't feel like we are going through this stressful time alone, haha. Good luck to everyone who is still finishing up their applications!
Hi! If anyone has any tips for the video interview please let me know! I know they said practicing would help, but I tend not to know where to look. I also just in general will sometimes mess up on what I'm trying to say. I want to balance it being reheorificed without sounding robotic.

Hello! I also was very nervous for this portion. I practiced a few times and then recorded my first attempt. I decided to just look at myself while recording instead of looking at the camera because I found when I looked directly at the camera my eyes kept looking back and forth between myself and the camera. Hopefully, this won't hurt me. I ended up stumbling over a few words at times and lost my train of thought once but decided to just stick with my first attempt because we are human and stumbling over a few words is totally understandable. It's better than sounding like a robot reading a script. GOOD LUCK, YOU GOT THIS!
That's smart, looking at yourself because I've done the same thing haha! I wrote down a prompt responding to most of the question so I think i'll use a recording app to practice saying that stuff tonight. Essentially everything else is done. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK ?

I just submitted my application yesterday! Best luck to all of us.
For the video interview, I looked directly at the camera because when I practiced with my own camera app I found people may have that eye-contact if I looked at the camera instead of the screen. But maybe this doesn't matter.
Still waiting one of my professors to submit the letter. So, hopefully everything will be done by tomorrow.
I feel as though I have a very strong application, but my video interview did not go well at all. I lost the first attempt after a few seconds, and then my second attempt was not great (went over time). I am worried that I just destroyed my chances of getting in, even though I have worked SO hard on this application for weeks now. Does anyone know if this will cause me to be immediately rejected, or if there is still hope?

Of course there is still hope. The video interview is only a small percentage of the application, and they have to understand that it is very uncomfortable for most people to be vulnerable in front of the camera in this way. You got this ? Sending positive vibes your way!

I think they will take a holistic approach to access each applicant's application and video interview is just a small part of it. Definitely, I think not everyone will be comfortable sitting in front of a camera and speaking by ourselves for 10 minutes. I also did two attempts because there was a fire alarm in my apartment right after I hit the start recording bottom during my first attempt ? How lucky I was!
@RN7y2950 I messed up on mine as well. Within the first minute of the first attempt I got frustrated with myself and then cursed on camera. The second attempt I know I didn't cover everything I wanted and I stumbled a few times. Your essay and other strong points on the application should be able to make up for it. One weird thing I saw for me was that my gre scores said verified on my actual application. Then when I got to status it said not processed because they're awaiting verification of documents and gre scores. I'm very confused because I took the test a full 30 days ago and again, it said verified when i was actually filling it out. Hopefully that will clear up within the next week, I saw people started to hear about video interviews around the second week of November going into the holiday weekend so yeah. I'm gonna finish up my other applications then go into prep for possible interview questions they could ask. Good luck to everyone!
