UofA MEPN 2021

Published

Hi there. I am applying for the UofA MEPN 2021 program this Fall, and thought I'd open up this thread for others also applying at this time.

A little about me - I was originally going to apply for the 2020 program, but delayed it a year due to the birth of my youngest in late 2019. I have quite a bit of healthcare experience before the birth of my children, as well as volunteer experience in other areas. I haven't taken the HESI yet, but my stats are 3.5 (last 60), and 3.8 (prerequisites). I have a Bachelors degree in Biology, and am *really* hopeful to make it into this MEPN program. My goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner ? One of my aspirations is to serve impoverished communities in third world countries.

Would love to hear from others, and open up dialogue regarding questions and general advice.

Best of luck to all the 2021 candidates!

So they watch you. The. Entire. Time. Kinda weird at first, but after getting into the test a bit, you forget that they're there. My proctor was nice, but a bit difficult to understand, so between that and all the computer difficulties, I was not in the best mood, LOL. Is there any way you can resolve the technical issues before taking the test?

Sorry to hear that it was stressful! You did very well, despite the distractions! How is your application coming along?

Ya I was honestly surprised by my score because I thought I failed it due to my distractions! But I just submitted my application today!

How did you all get the Voucher code for Examity? I am getting the run-around on how to schedule my HESI

Hmm intersting. I just followed what was given online and was able to schedule my exam. I know that they have two different codes. One for the first attempt and another for the second attempt.  If you need more help I would definitely shoot an email to an advisor and I am sure they can help you out! Also, I think the testing office is open at UofA if you don't feel like taking it through examinty. However, I would double-check with the advisors to see if it is OK to take the test there!

So did it take 2 weeks for Examity to contact you? This is a wild process; it says you have to have an account first so I did that, and then on Examity, I tried to schedule my exam (instead of waiting 2 weeks for them to contact me after doing the JotForm), and I can't without a Voucher Code. I called Examity, and they don't give the code. I asked the Nursing college via email, and they said they don't give the code. I was hoping to take the test this Friday and not have to wait 2 weeks in case I need to retake it. I didn't realize, obviously, that it would take up to 2 weeks to get scheduled, or else I would have done it sooner.

I don’t remember if I had a two week waiting period I’m sorry! I just scheduled mine a month in advance so that I’d have a month to study. I took mine over the Summer and it is all a blur to me. I am sorry that this is such a big mess for you! Hopefully someone here who recently took it can help you out!

Hello everyone! Does anybody know the average timeline it takes for the nursing college to review your application and when you should get an email confirming that they reviewed your application?

Based on last year, I got a notification beginning of Jan that my app was being reviewed and then mid-Jan is when the interview notification went out.

OK awesome thank you so much for the info!

Hi everyone ?

Does anyone know if the graduate college application has the same deadline as the nursing application?

Anyone else submit their application yet? I just submitted both of mine today. Do they need to be "verified" by December 15th or just recieved?

Can you ask the school and report back what they say about this?

I think from my experience last year that you have to be submitted, but not verified by the 15th because it can take time for them to go through the transcripts. However, you can definitely verify this question with the college as well.

I just emailed them. I'll report back ?

"Thank you for reaching out! You need to be sure to submit your application before the 12/15 1159pm EST deadline and request your transcripts. Once NCAS receives your transcripts, they will verify your course credits and mark your application verified. If this is not completed before 12/15, students are not held responsible and your application is still accepted. Sometimes it can take a while to receive transcripts, then NCAS still needs to complete their review. It is normal that this process is still being completed on their end after the deadline. I hope this helps! ?"

This is what they emailed back.
