UofA MEPN 2021

Published

Hi there. I am applying for the UofA MEPN 2021 program this Fall, and thought I'd open up this thread for others also applying at this time.

A little about me - I was originally going to apply for the 2020 program, but delayed it a year due to the birth of my youngest in late 2019. I have quite a bit of healthcare experience before the birth of my children, as well as volunteer experience in other areas. I haven't taken the HESI yet, but my stats are 3.5 (last 60), and 3.8 (prerequisites). I have a Bachelors degree in Biology, and am *really* hopeful to make it into this MEPN program. My goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner ? One of my aspirations is to serve impoverished communities in third world countries.

Would love to hear from others, and open up dialogue regarding questions and general advice.

Best of luck to all the 2021 candidates!

wow, good to know

Hello I am so sorry I think I got the wrong info because my friend told me she talked to an advisor and said it wasn’t a 1 on 1 but rather recorded and then they review that recording. I am so sorry for the misinformation!

Hello, everybody

I'm an alternate to the ASU post-bacc cohort 2021 and looking at other options since there's a high chance I won't make it at ASU to start this Jan.

The U of A MEPN program was my backup.

Any tips on getting ready to apply, and any other info you can give me about this program. I'm really devastated since I wanted to get done by Dec through ASU, but maybe it wasn't for me

Hi everyone!

Just found this thread while browsing! I will also be applying this December for 2021 admission. I wanted to apply last year but I decided to retake some prereqs to boost my GPA.

My stats: 3.83 prereq 3.89 last 60 and 93.5 HESI. I currently have a bachelor's in veterinary science. I don't have much experience in the healthcare field. But I do have leadership experience - 4 years supervisor at my job.

Good luck everyone!?

Hi there! I looked into the ASU post-bacc program too. It's a good program, and I totally agree that it would be nice to be done by December ... not sure what your plans are with future jobs, but doing the UA MEPN program (for me) is much more advantageous. I hope you get into the program you want ... you never know - you might get into ASU! And if not, MEPN is pretty darn awesome. Only 15 months for a Masters!! ???

Those are great stats! I'm sure you will have no problem getting in! ?  I just did my HESI A2 today and scored a 96%. So glad to have that out of the way! ?

Congrats on the score it must be such a relief to get that out of the way! I agree if you want to try to get a NP I would definitely do MEPN! I’m hoping to get a FNP and word in impoverished countries and cities too!

NursingCAS opened up today for our program!!! ☺️

That's awesome. Your HESI score is excellent. Do you have any tips? Also, which book did you use? I'm pretty bad with these kind of exams so I'm so nervous it will bring me down. The TEAS score I had was what brought me down at my ASU application even though my GPA was good.

I didn’t get a 96 on my HESI. However I did receive a decent score of 94 and what helped me study for it was using Quizlet. I just searched for different subjects on Quizlet. I hope that helps!
