Hi there. I am applying for the UofA MEPN 2021 program this Fall, and thought I'd open up this thread for others also applying at this time.
A little about me - I was originally going to apply for the 2020 program, but delayed it a year due to the birth of my youngest in late 2019. I have quite a bit of healthcare experience before the birth of my children, as well as volunteer experience in other areas. I haven't taken the HESI yet, but my stats are 3.5 (last 60), and 3.8 (prerequisites). I have a Bachelors degree in Biology, and am *really* hopeful to make it into this MEPN program. My goal is to be a Nurse Practitioner ? One of my aspirations is to serve impoverished communities in third world countries.
Would love to hear from others, and open up dialogue regarding questions and general advice.
Best of luck to all the 2021 candidates!

Is there prep time for written response?
Nope, the written response is 5min total for prep and to answer.
*Just finished mine and it was tough but not terrible. Practice definitely helped. Feeling so thankful it's done. Good luck everyone!
So I just finished my interview ... I have no idea how I did- I know that I was crazy nervous the entire time, and I am not one of those lucky people who can hide their emotions, LOL!
I agree that the practice questions are a lot easier, but they really are helpful to think through in preparation for the interview. Good luck to everyone! Relieved that it's over and trusting that if it's meant to be, I'll receive an invite to the program. Try not to stress over the next couple of weeks, everyone!

I am with you! I tend to get nervous during my interviews and it shows but I’m praying they see past it haha. But congrats on completing it! Freedom feels great!
Hi Everyone,
Im finally getting around to completing my first post here.
I completed the interview yesterday, it really wasn’t as bad as I thought. I drove myself up a wall all last week trying to prepare. The only thing I didn’t like was the time constraint (duh, haha). Since we only had a minute, my answers were really safe and I felt I didn’t say enough to stand out. Now I guess we all just wait in anticipation! Looking at the MEPN 2020 thread it seems that decisions went out about week after the interviews but that was back when they were in person, hopefully we aren’t waiting the full two weeks.
Does anyone know if the reviewers look over our responses as they come in or are they waiting for the window to close before looking at them? I went to the pre-interview session and watched the video again after but I don’t think I saw anything about that.
I’m wishing good news for all of us!

Whether or not they review our responses all at once after the timeframe ends, or if they review them as they come in doesn't matter because they will send the decisions all at once

I was just wondering because if they’ve been reviewing them as they are received, then hopefully it won’t take as long to get the decisions out. Just my hope that we aren’t checking emails a million times a day for two weeks LOL.

I plan on it. I’d like to pick the staff/students brains on how the pandemic has impacted MEPN and what they struggled with vs what they liked about it (if anything).
This is literally the only instance where I hope they utilize the Zoom break out rooms, as I’d like to ask current students questions without the all seeing eye of staff and their professors, haha.

Just finished it! Definitely agree with everyone else. It wasnt TOO terrible but really gets you to think. I kind of stumbled on my words and lost my train of thought on one of the questions LOL hopefully they are understanding of the pressure of 60 seconds haha
