UNLV NURSING Fall 2021 COHORT

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I created this in order for us UNLV pre-nursing students who are applying for Fall 2021 admission to share HESI A2 exam scores and to ask questions. It would be greatly appreciated if you guys post your HESI scores.

I’m applying for Fall 2021 admission with:

-HESI score of 90%

-A- in KIN 223 (3 attempt points)

-A in KIN 224 (3 attempt points)

-(waiting on grade for BIOL 251)

-A in CHEM 108 (3 attempt points)

-A- in NURS 299 (3 attempt points)

-A in MATH 124 (2 attempt points)

-0.5 points for Rebel Recognition

*I will post my calculation points once I receive my grade for BIOL 251.

*Correction: please post your calculation points. You may share your grades or your HESI score if you’d like.

Hey Kase,

These grades are really high!! I'm curious if you received your score right after you finished the exam? Also, did you took it online or in person. I still haven't taken my HESI and microbio is stressing me right now. I'll post my calculation points once I receive my grade for biol 251.

Hello! I took the HESI online and was immediately able to see my score after I completed each section (I kinda don’t like this because after I completed a section, I received a score I didn’t like and was disappointed, and I had low confidence going into the next section). Microbiology is stressing me out right now too. From posts I’ve seen, it seems like Microbiology is the most difficult class for most people applying to UNLV’s nursing program.

Hi! My name is Allysha, it's nice to meet you (virtually at least)! I am planning to apply for the fall admissions and I hope all of us get in! ? I will be applying with:

-HESI score of 91.5% (but I have a retake scheduled for May 18th. My goal is at least a 94-95% just to boost up my points!)

-A in KIN 223 (3 attempt points)

-A in KIN 224 (3 attempt points)

-(I am taking BIOL251 right now at CSN with 3 attempt points and I am waiting on my grade for that. I currently have an A in this course so hopefully I keep it!)

-(I am taking CHEM108 right now at UNLV and I am waiting on my grade for this class as well. I'm struggling a bit in this class because I find the concepts for this course difficult for me to comprehend.)

-A in NURS 299 (3 attempt points)

-A- in MATH 124 (3 attempt points)

-No points for rebel recognition ? (and to make it even sadder, I was just a point away from getting that extra 0.5 LOL)

With all my grades calculated (assuming that I pass BIOL251 and CHEM108 with an A), I will be applying with 96.41. If I get a B+ in CHEM108, I will be at a 95.13. Hopefully, these scores are good enough, especially since the fall admissions are the most competitive!

Hi Allysha,

Assuming you do end up with 96.41 calculation points, I personally believe you will make Fall admission. I have been reading posts on AllNurses for awhile regarding Fall, Spring, and Summer cohorts and cutoffs for admissions each year. Obviously, anything can change, but the highest cutoff I have ever seen was 94-95.

I was thinking of taking BIOL 251 at CSN, but at the time I checked there were only in-person classes and my job would have gotten in the way. UNLV was offering online, asynchronous classes for BIOL 251, so I decided to take it there. I’m honestly regretting doing that now. I definitely should have done a little more research on ratings of professors. It looks like a lot of people have gotten As at CSN, and everyone (including me) is struggling with the class and hates the professors who teach the class at UNLV.

Hello, I plan on taking my HESI online/remotely. Was there a scratchpad and built in calculator available for the math section? I’ve heard others say no scratch paper allowed so I’m hoping there is at least a built in scratchpad available.

Hello,

I took my HESI online. For the math section, scratch paper is not allowed. You are provided with a “scratchpad” and an on-screen calculator. This scratchpad is like the Notepad app on Windows or the Notes app on Mac.

So if you’re given the following problem: 4:X :: 6:20 (round to the nearest tenth)

and you have a hard time visualizing and need to write things out on the scratchpad they provide you with, you could do something like this:

So far I'll be applying to the nursing program with these

-HESI score= schedule to take it in June; my signing session is on June 25

-Kin 223 and 224= A (3 attempt points)

-Biol 251= B (3 attempt points); Regner exams are just the worst

-Chem 108= A (3 attempt points)

- Nurse 299= A- (3 attempt points)

-Math 124= B+ (3 attempt points)

- Rebel Recognition= .5

Hoping I do well on the HESI

Hi everyone,

My name is Diana. I am applying with 94.47 points at the moment. I am retaking the HESI in June in hopes of improving my score by a point or two.

The Summer was a lot more competitive than it usually is, with a cut off score of 93.8. I'm hoping that a few people who planned to apply in the fall applied in the Summer.

Wishing all of you luck!
