University of Washington (UW) - Summer 2019 ABSN

Published

Hello everyone,

who is preparing to apply for the UW ABSN program? Applications start on August 2018 and school starts on June 18th 2019. I was informed I have to do the prerequisites so I decided to that in a local community college. Any body having hard time or on the track of doing their prereq??

All feedbacks welcome, and any kind of helpful hints that has helped you!

Thank you!

Congrats to those who got a call - it must be a relief! You're on your way to a good weekend. :)

Does any one know the statistics? How many applicants there were? And there are only 66 open slots?

If we do not get a call by EOD, does this mean we were not admitted? Will UW notify us with a rejection email?

Yeah sometime today everyone will get an email :)

Just got the email. I'm #36 on the waitlist. I'm not thrilled, but it's better than a rejection I suppose!

Just got the email as well and am #26 on the waitlist. So not feeling very encouraged :/

I received a rejection email. Super disappointed. Out of curiosity, what was every one's overall GPA, prerequisites GPA, and number of hours of volunteer work / work experience?

My cumulative GPA is unfortunately admittedly not at all impressive at 2.8. I did not do well for my Bachelors degree which is from over a decade ago. I was hoping my prerequisites GPA of 3.7 would make up for it. I have about 140 hours in volunteer work experience. I am also an older student.

The hard part is in not knowing the reason for rejection. Hopefully UW will provide some honest and solid feedback.

I didnt get in either. I have over +1000hrs in a hospital plus military and emt experience. 2.8 for my undergrad and a 3.8 for the prereqs and I didnt get in..... i know i did well on the essay and math questions. Pretty disappointing, I suppose I needed a 4.0 in my undergrad which i did after the military. Would love to know how they choose people . Good luck to those who got in

I'm sorry to hear jpg30. I feel your pain. 1000+ hospital hours + military + EMT experience is impressive! Yes, I would like to understand how the committee makes decisions as well.

Don't be discouraged! I'm pretty sure they move through like 30 people on the waitlist.

Thank you! That does make me feel better!

Hi All,

Congratulations to everyone who were admitted this year!

Our waitlist can be pretty dynamic. In the 5 or so years i've managed ABSN Admissions, around 30-40 offers come from the waitlist. This number definitely fluctuates year to year though. In my info sessions i've always emphasized that if you're on the waitlist, you should definitely take the necessary steps to be admitted. Sorry if this is confusing, but I hope it gives you a little context of what it means to be on the waitlist.

For those not admitted, I'd be happy to discuss your application with you and ways you can improve. As stated in the email, we won't be able to meet until May. Please refrain from emailing/calling to request a meeting as we have now shifted our full attention to BSN Admissions. Try to use this time for honest reflection on areas you think can use improvement. For example, while you may have "good" experience, did you do a good job of conveying it or selling it on your resume?

Lastly, if anyone hasn't received an email decision, please let me know.

Thanks,

Adrian

I also got rejected. Seems like I'm in a similar boat as the rest of you. 2.8 undergrad GPA, 3.8 prerequisite GPA. 1000+ hours experience as EMT and medical assistant. Tons of diverse volunteer experience.

I'm definitely starting to feel a little discouraged. Seems like that darn undergrad GPA is going to haunt me forever...

Hey I just got accepted for the 2019 Fall start: do not give up guys I have been rejected for UW before. Here are my stats:

CNA for about 5 years combined

Currently a Patient coordinator at a hospital for 4 years

Prereq GPA about 2.9?

Umdegrad gpa 3.5 @ UW.
