What is the min. GPA and NET scores that have been accepted in the past for the BSN program? If anyone has info? Thanks

thanks brittn..

I'll do that and also you think by being in a nursing program already will hurt my chance of getting into ut houston. I've called and one girl that picked for the admission counselour told me it would defintitely help in a positive way in my admission if i mention that im in a nursing program already but i have to be making decent passing grade which i am currently am. BUt for some reason, i think its not gonna be an advantage if im in a nursing program already. They might say why should we accept this student when they in a program already. So i was wondering if anyone know being a program will hurt your chance of transfering or help it? Thanks hope someone can help me.

I would believe what the admissions counselor told you. If you are in a program and making good grades, I don't see how they could fault you. I think it is a compliment to them that you would consider transferring schools even though you are already in somewhere else and doing fine. It would mean that you have a very high opinion of their program.

Besides, they want to admit people who will succeed in their program. If they see that you are already successful in a program, you are not a risk for them.

I don't know if they are going by last name. My last name starts with "H" and I interview on 3/4/08, if this helps. I surely know that they aren't going by when you applied as I barely had everything in by the deadline.

I'm not sure how they are picking who they interview. It has to be some combo of GPA, NET, and prior health experience, and other factors. My GPA's are moderate (3.5 and 3.38) but, my NET scores were high (98%tile) and I have 2.5 years of experience in healthcare and 14 hours of College Spanish. I also already have a degree. Does anyone know how they factor this in?

Whatever tricky algorithm they used to get me an interview I really do appreciate it and I'm actually shocked to make it this far.

Maybe I should go to an info session...

Congrats, Adrian! Are you interviewing for the accelerated or the 2 year program? I interviewed for the bacc2 program on Feb 7. I'm like you, not stellar GPA (3.5 pre-req and 3.6 science) but I also got a 98% on the NET and have 7 years experience in healthcare (pharmacy tech and hospital fundraising). I have no idea how they factor all of this but I know from the info session that they really do look at everything. The info session wasn't that helpful and I didn't learn much that I didn't already know from their website.

I will be interviewing for the regular BSN program at UTH. Yeah there website pretty much answers most questions they, have even updated it and the info is easier to find.

Also, today I recieved an evaluation of my trascripts in the mail. They have looked at all courses (all 171 credits, LOL!) but, the split up my GPA's. It basically tells you which classes they used in your GPA's and which if any are you missing. I'm only missing Developmental Psyc and I'm taking that now. I'm starting to get nervous....

hey i was wondering if anyone at ut Houston or anybody know from previous history if ut houston nursing accept any transfer nursing credits. I'm currently at UThsc in sa in my first semester and I recently got an interview at ut houston again. I got interviewed last fall 07 but did get a spot so i went ahead and applied for uthscsa and got it. Now Ut houston sent me a interview letter so i was thinking i would go if they accept transfer nursing credits. So i was wondering if anyone got any information about it. I would love to moved back home to houston and go to ut houston because I REALLY WANTED TO GO THERE BC IT WAS MY FIRST AND ONLY OPTION I WANTED. Hopefully someone can get me some information because there no point in me transfering at all if my nursing credits dont transfer at all.

Its best to call the school. They are constantly changing policies on credit acceptance; therefore, what they take one year - they may not take the next. Good luck in your endeavors. :nurse:

I'm still patiently waiting for a letter in the mail for an interview. I've heard through the grapevine that several people that have applied for the Fall 2008 BSN program have received letters to come in for an interview. I'm hoping they are going alphabetically and they just haven't gotten to my last name yet. I know that one of the girls they called in had a much lower GPA than I did so I just don't get it. Her NET score was better than mine so maybe they really do go by NET scores even though in the information session they said they don't but they just want to make sure you have taken the test.

Is anyone else out there still waiting?

I have seen some applicants coming in for interviews. Don't base acceptance on just one aspect of the process. They look at the whole picture really. An applicant may have a 4.0 GPA, make 100% on the NET, and hold a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, but if they are not good with people - they probably won't get into the program. Good luck you guys. I know how hard it is to wait. When I started at UT I already knew a few of my classmates from this same type of thread. :typing

It should not hurt your chances. I was in the HCC nursing program and got accepted to UT. Not only did they accept me, but the experience I gained from the other program made the first semester at UT much easier.

thanks everyone for their inputs

i've called ut houston and they gave me some answers but i was wondering if i do get accepted and ut houston don't take any of my credits that im currently talking at uthsc in sa then should i even transfer at all? I really like to attend ut houston because its closer to home and also its a great program and was my first choice when i first applied to nursing. I'm 23 right now and only 6 hrs from graduating with a psy degree but i won't have time to finish that until after nursing program. If i do transfer and none of the credits is going transfer it would make me think i wasted a semester that i coudlve finish my psy degree and wasted money as well. So im over here contemplating on what to do if i do get accepted.... is it worth transfering and wasting money and a semester at uthsc in sa if my credit dont transfer or should i just stay put at uthsc in sa and graduate from there? Im planning to apply for my master in the future and i think being at ut houston will gain my chance of getting into a master program at ut houston thats why im thinking about transfering. Obviously if they take my transfer nursing credits if i get in then i will definitely transfer but if they dont then what would be the best chocie?

but who know i might not even get accept which will make my decision easier and i have to stay at uthsc in sa....ehhe

Has anyone else received the interview invitation? I still haven’t heard anything. My GPA is very competitive, but my NET score is nothing impressive, so I don’t really now how I rank in their assessment score. Does anyone know if it indicates in your status when you get an invitation?

Ive seen a few others on the board stating that they interviewed the first few days of this week. I had my interview on 3/4/08. I don't know how long they will be interviewing, There were quite a few people in and out during the time I was there. My status on UTLINK is still pending. They say a decision will be given between 4/1 and 4/15 so Im guessing interview will be about 2 weeks (just a guess!).

I too did not do well on the NET (48%) and I have a competitive GPA. I haven't received a letter for an interview either. I was told in the information session that they just look to see if you have taken the NET and there is no minimum you have to score like at TWU (55%). Something tells me they do look at the scores. If I don't get in this round, I'll study for the test and retake it because obviously the score matters. I emailed them today and they are still in the interviewing process and said final acceptance and denial letters will be mailed on April 15th. Hope this helps you. :nuke:

I got into the accelerated BSN program at UT Houston for Summer 2008! I just checked UT Link and it now says "You have been admitted for the term shown above". This must have updated today because I checked it last night and it was still pending. I'm so happy! Now there is so much to do to prepare! Books, equipment, financial aid, etc. Whew.
