What is the min. GPA and NET scores that have been accepted in the past for the BSN program? If anyone has info? Thanks

I got my letter the last week of January. My GPA is 3.8, nursing 3.9, and science 3.75 so yours sounds great! My NET score was 96%. They are not mailing out acceptance/denial letters until 4/15 so that still leaves lots of time! Good luck!!!! Isn't the waiting the worst?!?!? I thought we'd find out sooner with the BACC2 program but nope!

Are you working while you are in the nursing program? I heard that the first few semesters were so tough that you really couldn't work and keep up with the study load. Is that true?

Also, when UT called you in for an interview how long was that past the deadline. For Fall 2008 the deadline was January 15th so I'm wondering if I will have to wait until March to hear anything. The waiting is killing me because everyone is asking me everyday have you heard anything yet?

I was working weekends, but resigned when my husband got sick....so no, I don't right now. There are a few people working full time as LVNs while going to school, but it is tough and they admit that if they had kids they don't know how they would do it. Some work part-time and/or do nursing externships for money. I got my acceptance letter in January or February - honestly, I don't remember. I found out in January because I looked up my status on the web site, but did not get my letter unti much later.

Good luck to you...and remember....don't give up. It took me two times to get in.

Thank you so much Becca! :wink2: You're very helpful! I thought we would find out sooner for Bacc2 as well- April is cutting it so close, but I heard that UT houston tends to do that. I was reading on last year's Bacc2 acceptance board that sometimes people get rejected and then get a phone call late in April to take someone's spot (I guess some people got in but decided to go somewhere else). Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Best of luck on your interview and acceptance!

Thanks, Saleisha! I agree that the middle of April is cutting it close, especially if you're having to move down here and find housing, etc. Please post when you get your interview letter! ;)

Saleisha, I'm sweating bullets too. I've applied to Fall 2008 program and keep hearing how others are getting interview letters and everyday I check my mail and online and nothing. I'm wondering when you go online where does it indicate that they sent out letter???

Hi Ester! Waiting is the worst, isn't it? Don't worry- last year, some people were getting letters in the last week of February and interviews were still going on in March! I'm not sure if the online status will reflect a letter being sent out. Does anyone know? So far, my status is still the same. My GPAs popped up a month or so ago, and since then...nothing! I'm still waiting! I'm going out of town for a conference from Wednesday to Saturday, so hopefully that will cure my mailbox-checking addiction lol. Hopefully I'll come home to a big stack of mail with something from UT in it! Keep us updated and best of luck, Ester!

I don't recall seeing anything different online about them sending a letter. The thing to look out for is seeing the acceptance change online way before receiving the letter after your interview. Good Luck to all. You are going to have a cool group of seniors to help your guys/gals out.

Thanks for the info eez! I'm a little upset right now. I quit a good job to take these classes and pursue this, and now I have a feeling I'm not gonig to get in. I don't know what to do now. I invested everything I have into this and I'm just really disappointed. I have a feeling I'm going to be crossing my fingers until May when it finally settles in that I have no job, no money, and no future career because I blew it all on this. My first degree was a BA in Music (go ahead and laugh, but what can I say? You're passionate and idealistic when you're young.) Anyway, I'm a violinist and it took me freaking eight months after graduating to find a good job in my field and I stayed there until I couldn't stand all the big egos and superficiality of working in the arts. I quit and spent all my savings on taking these prereqs/paying rent while unemployed. I made all A's, but nobody's going to take a freaking music major seriously. I can't go back to my old job because lets just say it didn't end well and now I'm on the musician blacklist. Oh well...if you see some homeless loser on the streets, throw me a quarter.

Saleisha,

All is not lost yet. I'm waiting as well but the good part about getting into nursing school is once you do get in, whenever that may be Fall or Spring, you can look back and have more drive to succeed because you have overcome all the obstacles thrown at you to get there. If I don't get into the Fall 2008 program, I'm going to keep breathing, keep working and keep being the best single parent I can be. I'm going to keep working toward my dream and apply for the Spring 2009 program. I'm sure they will eventually get sick of seeing the same person apply over and over and perhaps eventually let me in. Don't stand still and wait for it to come to you. Go get an entry level job in the nursing field or something in that direction but just keep moving and you will see eventually it will be in front of you.

I am a student at UT and I found out I was accepted by checking online. My letter didn't arrive for another two weeks. I can remember (for two weeks) telling myself, "I won't believe it until I get a letter." So don't feel bad.........its normal to be nervous.

Oh, and just a side note: there are superficial people and big egos in medicine too. :p

Did you ever get a letter for an interview? It seems that many people are talking about getting letters for interviews in the past 3 weeks so I'm getting a little worried because I've received nothing. I have been checking online everyday and it still says "Pending status will be updated upon admissions committee decision". Is this what yours said? What does it actually say once you are accepted?

What semester are you in now and is it as hard as they say?

Saleisha, one of my instructors has her first degree in music. She later went on to pursue her BSN and MSN. Don't give up!
