I'm wondering if maybe the night shift is a possibility. (and no, I'm not being sarcastic)!! The night shift has less distractions, less going to and from procedures, less phone calls, less new orders, etc. It may not be your first choice but it can be a nice place to develop time management, skills, etc. Just a thought! We were told in nursing school that the lemon glycerin is no longer recommended. It's an old school of thought.

Congrats!! I took mine today, and my story sounds identical. Shut off at 75, lots of prioritization, infection control, SATA. YIKES!!!! I walked out with my stomach in knots!

It's all in who you know! Sad but true! I've got a 4.0 with a BSN and a pretty impressive resume (if I do say so myself) . But, the thing that helped me for sure get the job I wanted was the people I knew. Good luck to everyone! It's a tough market!!!

Elliebell - We DID get the breaks that were listed on the calendar (though some had to do clinicals the week of Thanksgiving and def. Spring Break). Good luck to everyone!!! I agree with RNHouston that if you're around the Conroe/Woodlands area, the bus is more trouble/time than it's worth. Carpooling is the way to go! Oh, and RNHouston, shouldn't you be reading Pedi or something?!

You have to come to the school for all exams as well as labs, and clinicals range from 1 to 3 per week depending on the semester. There will be no predictability from month to month so your schedule must be uber-flexible!!! HTH!

Not trying to be negative but I interviewed last year the first week of February, and my status didn't change until April 1st! So don't get discouraged! I know they say you'll hear something in a couple of weeks but it seriously could be months! Just keep checking! Good luck to all!

I'm commuting from Lake Conroe for school and while it's a VERY long drive, it's do-able for me for a certain period of time. It does get old and I wouldn't want to do it forever (but I'm 40 minutes farther than you). I did meet someone at Hermann TMC that lives out by me so it seems possible you could eventually get a carpool together. I graduate in May and am hoping for a job at one of the north hospitals. I'm a bit worried after reading all of the posts in this thread. Have you guys already been applying?? I plan to get going on that this month!

Had the same problem finding the vaccine. I called our local hospital and they told me which clinic in the area had it. GL! Oh and I've already started clinicals and won't get my final Hep B until October.

You def. can do it if you REALLY want to. I'm in the ABSN program and have two kiddos. BUT, you have to have major support. My hubby and mom are awesome! Your schedule must be very flexible as things can change at any time. You may only be at school 2 or 3 days a week, but you'll spend time everyday studying! In order to not sacrifice my family too much, I have to stay up VERY late at times and take my notes everywhere I go (chicfila, football practice, etc). Also, clinicals will be 1-3 days a week and 12 hr shifts. It's a crazy schedule but I'm thrilled that I'm a part of it! But, it's def. not a part time thing! Good luck with your decision!!!!

Hey dissector, I'm on Lake Conroe so I'll be coming your way. Amm4 mentioned meeting someone else that lives in Spring that will be starting with us. It looks like we have the making of a great carpool. I'm all for it!
