University of Texas at Arlington Fall 2020 Cohort

Published

Hello Everyone!!

It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?

I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.

I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

they put you a waitlist with a perfect 8?

Yes! I was not hoping that ??? as I had heard above 7.5 is competitive and I had seen people getting selected with 8. But, it was bad luck this time. May be this time there were many applicants with more than 8.

morelikely people start looking for jobs at hospitals to be partnered...people with 7 who are partnered get in....but also depends on the area...Certain areas might have less spots than others....I doubt it it is equal, because the number of applicants is much larger in DFW area , Houston area than anywhere else...

I was told about 7.5 was competitive as well. I ended up with a 7.935 ranking and was put on the wait list. I believe I saw a post on here that someone with a 7ish ranking got in but they were partnered. It is my understanding that people who are partnered have "priority" so to speak. Best of luck to you! I am keeping my fingers crossed to hear something from admissions.

yes they definetly get a priority when the scoring is within 1 point or less...

WOW! So you have a 4.0! That sucks to have a 4.0 and not get in, but I get the considerations and why they include them. And I'm thankful because that's what ranked me high enough to get accepted. But still, 4.0!! Congrats on that! I transferred in 2 B+'s and 1 B from my previous degree from a million years ago at Baylor. Of course, they all come over as just B's at UTA. Worked my butt off since last January taking 31 credit hours and making sure I got all A's to be competitive. Three of the hours were BIOL1345, which didn't count toward my pre-req hours, so I was 2 hours short of a 3rd consideration for 30+ hours at UTA. But I had all 16 science hours and a previous bachelors, so I got a full point added to my 7.859. Your 4.0 is super impressive. You should be proud! ?

I believe that they only accepted to those who are partnered. However, this is totally unfair for them who are willing to complete their degree without any previous experience. It is hard to maintain 4 GPA for science courses and 4 GPA for all over courses. So, they should consider theses things too. At least, they should accept the students like me for campus-based program. Let see, what happens.....

I am also in the same situation. But, I can’t do on campus as I am located near San Antonio. This was the only school I had applied. The maximum points you can get without considerations is 8 and even with that you can’t get in. I hope we will get pulled out of waitlist.

Yes, I hope also that we get in soon. Right now, it is very disappointed situation. But, I think this is due to my bad luck. I struggle a lot to maintain my GPA.

I agree it s not right cuz from what I was told you can be a cook at a hospital and be "partnered", but at same time I m not partnered and many other guys who gt accepted too were not partnered either. It seems for fall of 20, 8+ is needed to be accepted. I was also told that there are less people applying for Spring semester so higher chances for acceptance......

Thanks, okay I got it. I finished most of my courses, and I have left with only two courses. I can reapply for campus based program in Spring 2021, hope to get in at that time.

I will also apply for Spring, but can’t go for campus based. I talked to my advisor and she told me that students will be contacted by advisor if they are selected for alternate. If you are chosen as an alternate and you agree and fulfill all the requirements, You will be auto accepted for Spring 2021. There is still some hopes.

Thank so much to guide on this matter. I will definitely contact the advisor and go with the alternate method if possible. Thanks again.

There is no interview. The acceptance is dependent on the point system. Working at a partnered hospital is also beneficial for your application.

What are the partnered hospitals in the Houston area?
