I just got accepted to USN's accelerated BSN program. I will start in august and I'm done in 18 months. I live in CA and have applied to BSN programas here also, but they are 3 years long including the summers. USN is a private school and I am a little worried that the 18 months is too good to be true. I am very worried that when I am done with this program that I will not be able to get licenced in CA. From what I understand I must take the NCLEX in NV since I got my degree there; then in order to work in CA I must try to get endorsed into the state to get registered. I am affraid that I will have to take a bunch of extra classes in order to get regestered in CA. USN is also very expensive, but I get out 1.5 years early with my BSN. I figure that I can make close to a 80,000-100,000 in that year and half so it would be worth it. Any info you want to shoot my way would be awsome.

I don't want to be the one with bad news, but the market is saturated here in CA in the majority of CA that is. I went through an accelerated program of 15 months and I got licensed in CA and not in NY where I went to school. I cannot tell you how the job market will be in 20 months, but if continues the way it is here in CA, there are new graduates from a year ago still looking for jobs. It would probably be in your best interest to stay in NV and work to get that experience you need and then move back to CA. There are numerous threads about the saturated market in CA.
Good luck to you, 18 months isn't bad, but you will have no life at all:)

I graduated in Vegas and moved 2 days later to another state. I took my NCLEX in the new state. I've never been licensed in Nevada.
Good luck with your schooling!!

@ ORhopeful - Are you still in the program for BSN at USN? I got accepted and will be starting in August 2010. However, since it is a new program/school that I don't know much about it. Could you share some informations regards to the school/program? Thanks :)

@OneWay -- I applied for the August 2010 class and have my interview next week. I am really nervous and I suck at public speaking. Any pointers?? Please help me!!
@Bebechels76 - Nice! don't be nervous, as two professors who interviewd me were kind and easy going. Are you doing the interview in person or via phone? I did it over the phone since I dont live in Nevada. And it wasn't bad at all. Two portions; a written interview and oral interview. For the written portion, the questions was to define what communication is and describe what an effective communication is. For the oral portion, asked me quesitons like why do I want to become a nurse, who inspired me to become a nurse, what can I contribute to being a nurse and how well would I deal with conflicts between the classmates and such.
I'm sure you will do just fine.. I tried to just relax and think of it as i'm just talking and not being interviewed then I was able to relax and be more comfortable answering freely. Good luck and tell me how it goes!

hI EVERYONE, I thought the new USN accleration program start in Oct for 2010. I called and ask about it and they got my information and then schedule me for a phone advisor interview in a week or so. They told me to fax in my unoffical transcipt, WHICH I DID. I ask the guy on the phone for the application to fill out but he schedule me with an advisor appointment over the phone..Make me wonder if its a legit program or not. BUt anyhow..how does the process work for USN ACCERLERATION BSN PROGRAM. Is there an application to fill out after talking to the advisor over the phone? Can someone give some details about the program from USN. Thanks for your help!!

Hi all,
Just wondering, has anyone ever been denied of acceptance at USN? because it sounds like they pretty much accept all from what I've read so far after you've been interviewed. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank's!
Inspiration.
