Anyone have any insight on this program? I'm in the process of applying and would love to know about the school!

I am applying for Fall 2010 too! I can't actually apply until they accept me though. I applied to UAB and will find out in a couple weeks whether I got in. I was told today that 260 applied and 120 will be accepted. Not bad odds at all. My first choice would be to stay in FL.

ncemt,

Hi I see you said that you went to the information session and they said that the last 2 semesters applicants with a 3.01 GPA were admitted. ( i think I got that right ). I did the online information session on Saturday in April and the lady we had said it is very competitive and the average GPA for the program is 3.7. If it is 3.01 then that is NOT that high at all. But I do thank you for that information. I think sometimes schools give you an average so that you can strive harder, but hey whatever works. USF is not one of my first choices but it is a choice. I like the fact that they don't have a nursing entrance exam. Most of the schools I am applying for require the NAT, TEAS, or the HESI. I appreciate everyones information that they are providing.

I was considering applying to this program (2nd bachelor's at USF) since I got my first degree from there and live in Tampa. But, I don't have chemistry (one of the prereqs) and was told only 3% of people pass the CLEP (a test to exempt a course without affecting your GPA). So, I'm either settling on a community college here in Tampa (2 to choose from) or will take chem in the fall and apply afterwards. Good luck guys! I went to their info. session and toured their facilities and they are top-notch from what I could tell.

Sehsun- Would you be able to email me some info about USF's accelerated program as well? I would really appreciate it :)

Hi Everybody! Im new to this site and I am also applying to USF Accelerated Program for Fall 2010. I recently graduated from UF and unfortunately did not get accepted into their program :( I already completed my application but USF (not the nursing school) hasnt accepted me for the Fall yet because they were waiting for my final transcripts. Now that they have received them I hope to hear something soon because the nursing school emailed me saying they needed USF to accept me before they can review my application. Very confusing to say the least lol.

Does anyone know how long it took to find out if you were accepted to the University? I see that the deadline for the accelerated nursing program is june 15th but you have to be accepted to the University first.

Also, how is living in Tampa?

From what I heard 2-3 weeks after the deadline has passed we should know! My status was changed to "committee" two weeks ago, which I think everyone's status is changed to once they verify you have all the prereqs done.

I would also like to know what its like living in Tampa. I have never lived in a big city before and am a little scared.

Mine was changed to committee finally too. Im super anxious!

I would still like to know about living in Tampa... not used to big cities!

I would also like to know what Tampa is like, I am from PA so it would be a big move. Does anyone know if there is an estimated total cost of the program? I am out of state so I'm assuming it will be much more expensive for me:doh:

pita16, have you already been accepted by USF? If so, if you go on OASIS it will tell you your estimated cost of attendance. Yeah it might be more espensive but I think you can become resident for tuition purposes after a year.
