:monkeydance:
I have been to the University of Brighton web site and searched for "OVERSEAS NURSING PROGRAMME for NCLEX" but found no results. Can anyone advice and direct me to the right place at brighton Uni please.
Hi
Here is the link for the course:
http://www.brighton.ac.uk/hss/modules/index.php?fn=quickview&mod=123115261535579802
I will PM you the details of who you need to speak with as not sure if I am allowed to post it here. The next intake for the course is October.
Hope this helps :)
HIi am a student nurse and i will finishe my course in march, am interested in working in the usa as midwife. can you email me the datails of the city university please.
2 posts above yours is the link to the university and course. I would be quick in talking to them as you need to complete your training and things may change between now and next year. I have seen mentioned in another post that the university may be cancelling it due to lack of demand but if many contact them may change their mind
As I have mentioned in a previous post Brighton Uni are cancelling their course and if you wanted to do it, it is only available through an agency such as OGP who have put all visa's to usa on hold! hope this helps. I have heard that London city uni is doing the course, again this is only available through ogp.

hi, i currenty a student at city university, i told would like to nurse in the usa. im very early in the programme and wouldnt qualify till feb 2012 so just basically researching. could someone point me in the direction of what course it is they do as i am not aware of this?
2012 is a long way off, the top up course currently running at City university is also about to end as they have just not had enough students to make it worth while; it was called something like an oversease nursing programme and was specifically designed for UK nurses wishing to top up hours required to work in the US.
Do you know where in the US you want to work as each state has different requirements with regards to the hours required to meet their board of nursing standard, so it is important that you find this information out.
I suspect that you will find that when you have completed your course you will be deficient in hours probably in mental health, Obs and Paeds as the US train different to the UK.
By all means do your research but there is probably not a lot you can do about these hours until you have finished your training. I am assuming that you are doing Adult branch?
thanks for that yeah i am long way off so, i am doing adult branch so peds, mental health would ne a diffinate. i only have to states in mind new york and florida, new york being my first choice. do u know required hours for these states???
I know the Florida BON recently changed their requirements for hours and it was increased, I am not sure about NY. What you need to be aware of is that each state is different so make sure you have plenty of hours which would cover both of the states that you are interested in.
Your best bet would be to contact each of the Nursing Boards and ask what their requirements are, however, you might be better leaving it until a bit nearer the time as a lot of things can change between now and 2012. You will probably be short of hours in Obs as well as MH and Paeds as we dont get the amount of training in these 3 areas like they do in the US so be prepared to have to top up.
In the meantime good luck and hope this answers your queries. :)
