  1. I get paid to go to nursing school and my fees are free.. Thank god for the UK on this occassion. ;-)
  2. I have kind of left it for a while, with being in my last year and exams and placement. However, I did find one school that is considerable in regards to these hours and placement, from the top of my head I cannot not remeber as I wrote it down. So when I get home I will dig for it and let you know. They have been very helpeful and gave me a site were we can compare our education to the usa. Nadine
  3. Thank you anderson, I was considering a tourist visa just to like u said network and possibly even see if I really want to be in the states, I know 6 months aint long but its longer than my usual 2 weeks vacations . An yes things might change but im not getting my hopes up im just taking it as it comes and finish first.....
  4. hey guys thank for the infor and yes silverdragon I dont qualify in feb of next year, I was generally asking about the transition of any uk trained nurses that has made it to ny as it is a potential state i will in the future be considering. I am also aware of the retrogression thanks, I have seen many post of this information and it was not what I was asking, no disrepect. But thanks once again. x Good day to you both
  5. Just wanted to know how it is going for you an possibly a short summary on your journey??
  6. hi maria... i noticed you only have one more post to go in order to pm.... lol i can pm cause i hit my 15 post target.
  7. That sounds great. actually alomost excited
  8. hey Maria, sorry didnt see the ealier post, however, no i have not i have just been doing random colleges/universities that offer nursing and emailing then stating what I would like to do and if they do such thing. But I see nursecabanita has some good information which I will also look at my self, Keep me posted vice verse.. Nadine
  9. Hey Maria Your welcome, i dont know if i can send my email, or are we not allowed to do that? and we could possibly keep in touch and see this process through? Nadine
  10. Hi Maria, Im currently starting my final year of Nursing and wanting to do the same thing, I have been reseraching for quite some time abou the process, and yes is very daunting.. and the only way i see possibly is by other means of ganining citizenship. I am considering NY as mainly they do not require a ss# to get a licence but do recommend you doing the 2 courses which are available to do online. I wanted to know if you wanted to see this journey, if moving to the states is something you are willing to do and go through extensive hardship to get to the end? lol... I dont know how to Pm or msg on this forum so maybe someone can advise me on how to do this. First thing first is to grauate and apply for cgfn, and ther board u are wanting to apply to can advise on the required hours to make up, then look into community colleges they make take on guest students and take it from there.......... Nadine.. Ps if any information is incorrect Im sure the administrators will correct this information.
  11. Hi, Thanks for your reply, as i already mentioned not graduating till feb 2012 so just tying to find out what would need to be done closer to the time, so just graduate first off all. Do you know anybody who has been sucessful in the guest student route? how long does it usually take to complete? does it require a student visa?
  12. Hi all, there is probably a thread for my question however,i cannot seem to find it or im just not looking hard enough. Feel free to put this thread where applicable. I am aware of all the usa requirements to become a nurse there and will probably take me a couple of years. Living and working in the usa is a long term goal for me so I am willing to do the necessary steps, whilst gaining enough exp in the uk prior. This is a bit short fall as i dont graduate till feb 2012. I am seraching for schools possibly in the uk that allows for the top ups. As i am a adult nurse i would require all other branches to even pass cgfn. Please could someone advise me on this or even aaplying as a guest student in the usa. how long will it take to complete these either in the uk or usa, before i can even think of applying to cgfn. Becoming a guest student if that is the route, will that still require a student visa?
  13. i think the admin can correct me..but if u wanted to endorse to another state i do believe NY does not require a ss#, could be an option. good luck.
  14. thanks for that yeah i am long way off so, i am doing adult branch so peds, mental health would ne a diffinate. i only have to states in mind new york and florida, new york being my first choice. do u know required hours for these states???
