  1. l don't think so. l migrated from London, England April last year and l passed my Nclex in Jan. 2009. l am on my first job as a Registered Nurse in USA and l am loving it. l don't have a BSN but the hospital l am working at is going to sponsor me to go for my BSN. Actually, l only have a diploma, l even got a got at National institute of Health and another big hospital . l picked the big hospital. Take care and apply for everyjob you can apply for.
  2. good luck.
  3. Thank you Valerie Salva. It is good to know there are nurses with soul like you out there. Thank you for giving kind words to this girl at this time. A word of kindness is a seed, which dropped by chance, springs up a flower. A kind word and pleasant voice are gifts easy to give. It is like lighting another man's candle with your own, which loses none of it brilliancy by what the other gains. if all men acted on this principle the world would be much happier than it is.
  4. l am sorry you are railroaded at work. As a foreign nurse, l passed my Nclex in Jan. 2009. l am new to america nursing and l was shocked when l started working at a local hospital in usa in March. First, l was only given two weeks orientation. During the 2 Weeks l had 4-5 preceptors. l was confused because each one of them have different ways of doing things. They extended the preceptorship for another one week. After one week with 2 new preceptors. They called me to the office and told me l was not coping well. l didn't want them to fire me so l resigned. My question is. Why are nurses mean to each other. Is it because some of them are not happy in thier personal life. My brothers are doctors in thier residency, they get more support and stay longer in thier profession than nurses. We nurses don't support each other. We stab each other and that is why some nurses leave the profession. l will not leave the profession and will look for a better hospital that will give me more training. Above all, Pray.
  5. i applied for endorsement on the 2nd of Feb. 2009 and got my permanent license on the 11th of May. Good luck.
  6. you are doing fine. l scored 52 in my diagnostic test and l passed.
  7. Hello Abiola: Silverdragon is right. l did 70 hours for each module. Some people say 60 is okay but it is safer to have more than less. good luck
  8. sorry that you failed. l also failed the first time too. The questions are very confusing. l hope you pass the second time, because if you don't l think you can appeal. God forbid you don't pass, appeal and contact me. l still have a copies of my assignments. The questions may be different but the format l am sure is the same. Good luck
  9. yes, the course is still running. l think you have to call the module leader. she is the module leader for this course. . l am sorry to tell you, you have to go thru o'grady. o'grady is a nursing agency.l did not come to usa with o'grady, l already have a green card. you can't make-up the hours with an agency. l was also suppose to come thru another agency. they packed up and l was able to come by myself. good luck. mod note. as per terms of service please do not list contact details and names but use the pm system
  10. the job market is really slow for foreign trained nurses regardless if you are a citizen.
  11. hello: l am a foreign graduate too. Just moved to Silverspring Maryland. You don't need anything except for you to apply for nclex in maryland and pass. The job market is really school in usa now especially for foreign nurses. l move here on the 28th of jan. so far l have be called back by only one hospital. l hope to get the job. good luck
  12. l am a foreign nurse. Sat for nclex 2nd of sept. 2008 and failed. Nobody told me about Kaplan. l met a girl the recommend Kaplan. Took Nclex again on the 13th of Jan. 2009 and passed at 75 questions. Kaplan is cool. l highly recommend it. l saw similar questions in the q-trainer on nclex. Kaplan saved my life. good luck
  13. l did the whole thing myself. go to www.vermontstate.com. go to licensing and nursing. read the instructions. you need to pay them 150 dollars. they don't accept bank draft from uk. ask your family in america to buy you western union money order in us. whey they send you the money order, send it to vermont with your applications. you have to send page 5 of the vermont application (not sure if it is still page 5 but is is called education verification) take it to your original school, they have to sent it directly to vermont. after making up your hours at brighton, you need to send or take another copy of education verification to brighton. they also have to send it to vermont. This is a proof you have make up the hours. l will not discuss how they to make up the theory hours on line but brighton will tell you what to do. they will send everthing to vermont and they are very fast and reliable. funny l can't remember the name of the ward. all l know is that it is on the 7th floor at st mary's in paddington. if you send me a personal mail l will give you the ward manager name and her phone number, but you can't do this without st. mary's human resorces. call the human resorces and ask for the clinical placement manager. you have to meet up with her and she will give you a contract, after signing the contract she will place you on a paed ward. The clinical director's name is st. Mary's phone number). if you don't get her, ask for her email and email her, set up an appointment. make sure you do enough hour for nclex requirements. l did 70 hours instead of 60 on each just to be safe. it is better to do more hours than do less. after finishing the clinical hours, make sure you keep up with vermont on the status of your application. just to sit back and wait for that to contact you, call them. email them etc. good luck. by the way l went for my first job interview today, wish me luck. l also met 3 other nurses from England on the ward. 2 irish, and one English.
  14. hello: do what Brighton university ask you to do. l used them and two other girls used them.. we were all approved to take nclex. we have all passed nclex. mermaid ward at homerton university is okay for mental health and st Mary's is a very good hosiptial. l did my placement on their pead unit. Don't complicate things for yourself. At the end of the course, they will issue you a transcript, you can't send the trascript yourself. the american board of nursing of your choice will contact them directly. so this is what l did. l first sent my transcript to vermont state board of nursing. they sent a letter back that l need to make up some hours. After making up the required hours, l called them and they sent me verification of education. l sent it to Brighton and a month later l got a letter from vermont state that they have approvecd me to sit for the board. 7 months later l passed Nclex. Moved to Maryland and endorse to maryland. don't complicate things. just do the hours
