Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!
anyone still on the waitlist for uofm fall 2010 second degree program? i am and i know classes start this week. wanted to see if i was the only one...
I'm still on the waitlist too. I've been thinking for about a month now there is no chance of getting in this year so I'm starting to focus on trying to get in next year. Time to start the application process all over again!
I've been on the waitlist since January. I've read that not many people get in after being on the waitlist because so many students accepted do decide to attend. I had no idea where I stood on the waitlist. Even if 10 people dropped out, there was a good chance I still wouldn't be accepted since soo many people apply to U of M. U of M's nursing school is one of the best, but if you've gotten in somewhere else, it might be worth it to pursue other options. I was accepted at another school, and although U of M was my first choice, I decided not to wait. In my opinion, there was a chance I could reapply in a year and possibly get in, but I would rather spend that year at another nursing school rather than waiting. If you get in somewhere else, go for it. In the end you'll have a BSN and passing the NCLEX is most important. If you do decide to reapply, though, good luck!
thats great, nicole, if you were accepted someplace else and decided not to wait. i would have dont that too and i totally get what you mean, but the only other school i was accepted was nyu and i can't afford to move to nyc so i had no choice but to stay on the waitlist.
heres hoping i get a call from ---- tomorrow morning...
The program has been great so far. the first semester is a slower pace than the next 2. We just finished our first 10 week session. Clinicals were definitely the best part. We start maternity tomorrow. Just now registering for winter semester, that's going to be crazy, 2 full days of lecture plus two 8 hour days of clinicals each week. The profs have been great, they are very "current" to the nursing profession. So far any negatives are minor. If you haven't worked with patients before, I would highly recommend trying to even get a volunteer position at a hospital. It will help immensely with clinicals
This program was the single greatest decision I've made of my life. Loving it! Just thought I'd throw that out there. :)
UpNorth - Like Dave said, complaints are minor, but to add to that - those of us who really seem to be having a great experience so far lucked out and got great clinical instructors for the first 10 weeks. That seems to make a big difference.
