Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!
Thanks for the update.
That really makes me mad. They told us 72 would be accepted and then they just take 54! As a waitlist person I feel like if they just would have accepted 72 people (like they said they would) then maybe I would have got in. I understand why they took a smaller class but I think they should have warned us that they might take less then 72 people this year. I just kinda feel like I got screwed

The SON website hasn't been updated in a while, but they definitely told me on various occasions that the new class would be around 50 people. It was especially emphasized at the informational sessions I attended (and was a source of additional anxiety during my application process). I agree with you, it's disappointing, but I don't think they were intentionally keeping that information from anyone.
I also attended serveral SON Second Career roll out sessions and I heard the number of 72 students....I know that is what their website states as 2010 fast facts, but I did hear in person the 72 headcount. I am happy for those students who got accepted into the 50 headcount for the new 16 month program, but as a waitlisted candidate I am truely dissapointed that they have decided to decrease the amount of accepted students the year that I applied. It is already August so I am assuming that I will not get picked up for Fall 2012...There is always next year!!! Good Luck to all that got accepted!

The informational session I was at also said they were going to take 72 people. Definitely sucks being a waitlist person this year. I'm super bummed I didn't get in but I have a back up plan so I guess I'm going to move forward on that. Congrats to those who got in.

There might be word after Aug 1st--we have a deadline for immunizations/criminal background check/cpr cert. So, I'm guessing that's when U-M will get a look at the real numbers they have for their incoming class.
