University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

Hi there,

I heard about my acceptance (I was on the waitlist) a couple weeks ago, but it sounds like they are contacting people throughout the summer. Have you been in contact with the School of Nursing? I would make sure and send them some extra info (e.g. a letter of interest in the program) and follow up that they received any transcripts if you were taking classes last semester. Good luck to you!!

Congrats to those who got accepted!:yeah: Best of luck! My advice... 1) relax, 2) relax, 3) relax, haha. The feelings of anxiety don't really go away for most people they just get redirected. So figure out what it takes for you to relax and stock up on it/plan for it/DO IT!!! The program will push you to your limits in MANY ways but you will have a wonderful group of classmates that will become more or less your family for the next 12 months. I could not have gotten this far without my classmates. They are the best part of the program.

The rest is...accelerated nursing school.

Good luck!

(P.S. last minute will become your norm...):uhoh3:

Did you send them an extra letter of interest while you were waitlisted? The e-mail I got from UofM when I was waitlisted seemed to hint they didn't want to receive things like that, just relative updates like grades, volunteering, etc. Since being waitlisted I have only sent them my final grades from spring semester.

I did, yes. They certainly don't want to be bombarded with extraneous stuff, but they do want to know you're serious and interested. So if you do decide to go with a letter of interest, don't just reword an essay you've already written, but convey your passion for the program. Do you have your CNA certification or volunteer experience? If not, you might also consider looking into those options and then alerting the school you're doing it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help!! :)

Because it would be a great disservice if the current class didn't start an FB group for the incoming class......so Facebook search "University of Michigan 2nd Career Accelerated BSN 2013".

It's an open group at the moment and everyone is welcome to join. I'll let members of the current class know so you can ask questions. I think they're starting to feel antsy about getting rid of their textbooks.

And you're welcome to ask me questions here as well.

Nope have not heard a thing....

Deezyj, did you hear anything yet??

Has anyone heard anything from UofM lately??

Hello Everyone...Has anyone who has been "waitlisted" been contacted lately? I haven't heard anything new? I am still hopeful that some "waitlisted" candidates still have a chance at getting picked up for the Fall 2012 Accelerated BSN program at U of M. Any comments or news out there?

I'm on the waitlist and I haven't heard anything. Still just waiting.....

Hi - That is great! Good for you. Did you recently get "accepted" for this Fall 2012 beginning in Sept 2012? Or are you a current student already in the program? When did you get contacted and taken off of the "waitlist"? I am also on the "waitlist" for this 2012 year but have not yet been contacted.

I'm currently in the program -- I got the call the day before orientation.

I also want to echo what Karen said and stress the importance of spending your last days of freedom relaxing and enjoying the company of your family & friends. U of M owns :icon_roll you from day 1 until graduation.

Hello U of M Accelerated BSN 2012 Waitlisted candidates.........Has anyone heard anything lately? Has anyone been contacted yet by U of M or heard of others being picked up for Fall 2012? I am waitlisted and still have not heard anything news? Please advise.

Nope, I haven't heard anything from UofM and orientation is next week. :(
