University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

Spoke with the SON today. She said the decisions have been sent out and we should have them by the end of the week. Good luck!

Good luck to you, kfj6703, and everyone else who is still waiting! I'll be sending positive vibes your way!

Zoiks...this doesn't sound good. I'm guessing the decisions link is updated for acceptance, and if there's no link then maybe no acceptance. I still have no magic link or email....

I just checked out the UM Admissions site and I have no link yet either? I believe they have been emailing people first and then telling them to check out the UM Admission link? Either way, I have not seen anything yet either...Good Luck to all who are still waiting.

I just got an e-mail saying I got waitlisted. Now I'm hoping for a miracle so I can get off the waiting list!!

I GOT IN!!! WOO HOO!!! Finally, all the waiting is over...

Sadly, I got the denial email....no link on wolverine, just an email saying I didn't get in. A bitter pill since my undergrad gpa is 3.94 and my graduate gpa is 3.89. Hopefully Oakland takes me....good luck to everyone who will be attending U of M! Signing off this site now.....

Still haven't received an email from the SON, but this morning on wolerineaccess, I had an offer of admittance waiting for me :)

Congrats to all who got in. As for everyone else, yes last year there was about 3 waves of acceptance letters and numerous people got in off the waitlist (I want to say there was 10 total and one only 2 weeks before the program started!) so don't give up hope. Also, we had a meeting and were told for sure the curriculum was changed to 16 months, the masters courses the last 4 months were not optional, and with regards to UM's masters programs you guys would be given preference if you planned to go straight through the accelerated program and the masters. My instate tuition for this program, without room/board (but including books and supplies) was about 28,000, but I would assume another 10,000/11,000 for the extra 4 months. Any other questions, feel free to ask, and once again congratulations! There's some rough parts and you'll have to learn to be flexible, but you're going to a good school, get to have your clinicals in an amazing hospital, and you'll get through it.

Oh also forgot! If you received your previous undergrad from UM the only way you'll hear about a decision is by checking wolverine access, no email, no letter. They assume since you already have one degree from UM you'll accept the decision and just accept it for you, so when you log into wolverine access under application status you'll see "you have accepted admission to" and then the program, at least that's how it was for us previous UM students last year. Hope that helps for what it's worth.

Are there any former or current students that have any advice for people who are on the waitlist. I would really like to be one of those students who gets in off the waitlist. Any advice would be much appreciated!! :)
