Spoke with the SON today. She said the decisions have been sent out and we should have them by the end of the week. Good luck!

I don't know for sure, but I am pretty confident that only a minority of those people who will be accepted have been notified. From previous years it looks like they have about three waves of acceptances. It sounds like so far there may have only been one set of notifications. Even after those waves, it appears that there are still quite a few straggling acceptances that make their way out in early summer. Granted, that is based on previous years, but it seems likely based on those that most of the positions in the program are still available. Try to stay optimistic and hope for the best. Good luck!

Heard from the SON today and apparently they want information on three of my pre-reqs so they can be evaluated for transfer. I'm assuming this may be a good sign, but am not getting my hopes up. At least it means things are actually progressing. Good luck to everyone!

University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program
My husband spoke to one of his co-workers who's wife is on the faculty in the SON and found out that the delay is likely due to their still trying to get the new program approved. I guess it has been going up in front of different committees for some time and is still not 100% set in stone. I suppose it makes sense that they want to get all of that settled before they get a class committed to it. Thought you guys might like to know.

I haven't heard a thing. Mind you, I am the only one I know who is applying to UM's ABSN program. Either they haven't released acceptances yet or this is one unlucky group of people commenting on this thread. Hopefully we'll all get good news soon.

I spoke with a friend in financial aid a couple of months ago about the cost of the program and she told me that she remembered it being ~$30k for in-state and ~$50k for out-of-state. Mind you, that's just tuition; no living expenses or books. With the new semester added, I am assuming it will be a fair amount more since the Masters courses will cost more per credit hour than the old program. I'm guessing it will be closer to $50k in-state and probably closer to $70k out-of-state. I told "you-know-who" that's why they needed to let us know ASAP, since the deadline to know what your financial aid will look like before you have to put your deposit down was March 1st. Now we will have to pay our deposit long before we have any idea what type of aid we'll be getting. It's kind of a buzzkill.

I don't know, but it might be a little premature to assume you didn't get in. At least that is what I'm hoping. I know there have only been five people regularly commenting on this thread, but it seems likely that one of us would have heard something by now. After all, the admissions rate is about 1 in 5. I really believe that they are just painfully disorganized and slow. I could be wrong, but based on previous classes it seems like this is likely the reason. Keep your guys' chins up and good luck! Hopefully we'll hear some good news soon.

Wrote ---- today (again) to try and find out whether there has been any development concerning my application. She gave me the usual form reply, but did mention that they "hope to let you know of a decision by the end of April". So there is apparently a light at the end of the tunnel, it's just another 5-6 weeks away.

I think it varies from year to year. It seems like most years they wind up taking only a few from the waitlist, but it sounds like they took a ton from the waitlist last year. I'd be lying if I said I knew why. Have you heard from them about being waitlisted?

Nothing here either. I've been checking for so long I don't check nearly as often as I used to. Serenity now...

Either that or she means the beginning of UM's Spring/Summer semester, which starts May 1st I believe. Could be a couple more month's if that's the case. I hope you're right. Good luck!

I just simply don't understand the "stone-walling". I do understand that there are usually a few hundred applications, and that she is one person, but I also know that this is not uncommon for many schools in the university. My husband has been involved with admissions in some of the departments within the medical school and I've been told that their volume of applications is very similar to that of the SON ABSN. He's told me that they generally only have a couple of people handling the applications and that they often are incredibly forthcoming with where applicants are in the review process. Usually they can tell you down to a couple of days when someone will have looked at your application. True, the decision is usually where they won't tell you until they are ready, but that's not really what I asked "you know who". There's a lack of transparency that I don't appreciate considering what's riding on it. It seems like there is a disconnect between her and us; she either doesn't know or care the anxiety we all go through. Still, good luck to everyone!

I haven't heard anything. I wrote the SON this week to try and find out if they've even looked at my application or whether they are waiting until after the new March 1st deadline to start releasing decisions. I got the same exact form e-mail response that I've gotten from Michele a half a dozen times with no mention of the questions I asked. I'm hoping if I get in I don't have to deal with her anymore; I've never felt like more of an inconvenience for asking simple questions. I we all get some good news soon.

I don't know anyone in the program right now from out of state, but I do have a friend who works in financial aid who said that getting the full amount of out-of-state tuition shouldn't be a problem. She said a lot of it will be loans, but most lenders see it as a pretty sound investment on your part. She also said that you can also get a childcare subsidy through the second career program if you need it. Hopefully it will be something that I'll have to worry about. I still haven't heard anything. Has anyone else out there caught wind of anyone getting in? Spartan89 is the only one I've heard of hearing from the SON.
