University of Michigan (UofM) Accelerated program

U.S.A. Michigan

Published

Hi everyone!!! I am new to allnurses.com - I was wondering if anyone has applied for the Fall 2009 accelerated program? I have not been able to attend an information session due to scheduling conflicts. Does anyone know how many people apply to the program or know any "insider" info? I know that 50 people get in every year - I just submited my application last week for the early response deadline - good luck to all!!

cmbatum, this page from the school of nursing website might help answer some of your questions: 2010 second career bsn profile | university of michigan school of nursing

Looks like I've got some serious work to do! That's quite the competition if only about 20% are accepted with that kind of credentials. Thank you for the link.

I just want to make sure we are all on the same page; we are all talking about U of M - Ann Arbor's Second Career Program, correct? Because I just spoke with the Admission's Lead at the Ann Arbor SON and she said the admissions decisions will be released end of April--early May.So, I'm a bit confused why the SON would release some decisions, but not others?

UofM does "rolling admissions" which means they supposedly they release decisions as they review applications.....but who knows. It seems like they release a few decisions through out the winter/spring and then most of the decisions around May. I think when you spoke to the admission person they meant that all the decisions will be released by then.

Yes, we're talking about the same program. I know a few people who received decisions (unfortunately, negative ones) back in January. Last week was the first I'd heard of anyone getting acceptances.

I also wanted to let everyone know that they sent out information (not sure if it was to all students offered admission, or just those who had committed) regarding orientation dates for the incoming class. It's an all day orientation session and you can choose between July 24th and 27th.

Heard from the SON today and apparently they want information on three of my pre-reqs so they can be evaluated for transfer. I'm assuming this may be a good sign, but am not getting my hopes up. At least it means things are actually progressing. Good luck to everyone!

That sounds promising!

That's more than what I have heard, which is nothing. ;-) Good luck!

I have been reading everyone's comments.......this is my first time writing my own. I also applied to the UM Second Career BSN program for 2012. I have not heard anything from them yet? It sounds like some people have already been accepted and wait-listed...I have not been contacted at all. Does anyone know if EVERYONE who has been accepted has been contacted already? Does this mean I am to assume I have been rejected or is there still hope? Any advice out there from current students or applicants?

I have been told that we will be notified either way. There will be a link on wolverine access that gives their acceptance decision.

I don't know for sure, but I am pretty confident that only a minority of those people who will be accepted have been notified. From previous years it looks like they have about three waves of acceptances. It sounds like so far there may have only been one set of notifications. Even after those waves, it appears that there are still quite a few straggling acceptances that make their way out in early summer. Granted, that is based on previous years, but it seems likely based on those that most of the positions in the program are still available. Try to stay optimistic and hope for the best. Good luck!

Thank you all for the information and the words of encouragement. I am very hopeful to hear some positive news from UM SON. My family and I are all very anxious to hear some news.....hopefully it will be soon and that I have been "accepted" :loveya:.

To those applicants still waiting to hear from UM: Please continue to post comments regarding status updates and notifications and I will do the same. Good Luck to everyone!!!
