  1. I'm currently in the program -- I got the call the day before orientation. I also want to echo what Karen said and stress the importance of spending your last days of freedom relaxing and enjoying the company of your family & friends. U of M owns :icon_roll you from day 1 until graduation.
  2. Yes -- I got in off waitlist. At the last second, no less.
  3. You would think! While UM may suffer those drawbacks, but it does have something OU doesn't. It has a gigantic hospital right next door and priority clinical placement given to Michigan students. You also tap into UM's huge alumni network, and employers know that Michigan places a huge emphasis on leadership. Food for thought!
  4. This semester: 20 credits -- 14 the first 10 weeks, 6 the last 5 weeks. Mon: Class 0900 - 1400 Tue: Class 1000 - 1600 Wed: Clinical 0630 - 1400 Thu: Study Fri: Clinical 1400 - 2200 Sat: Study Sun: Study Clinical days/times vary according to your placement. There are two groups this semester that have a Wed pm clinical then a Thu morning clinical -- I feel sorry for them. We had very little say in our clinical placement this year. My OB clinical was 1:15 from where I live.
  5. Different schools have different academic standards and are reflected in the pre-reqs they would like from their students. I was one of the last in the class of 2012 to be admitted. I understand people's frustrations but I will tell you that OSAMS, the department that handles admissions, also handles clinical placements among other things. Admissions is not the only thing they do, so I would encourage you to be patient. In fact, even when you get accepted (think positive), I would encourage you to be patient, because there are many things about this program that will try your patience. Keep plugging away at your classes, volunteer, and enjoy the free time you have with family and friends.
  6. I was one of those on the waitlist and offered acceptance. Being the smart fella that I am, I accepted. I'll be seeing some of you in the near future (maybe tomorrow).
  7. I'm on the waitlist. Which means I'm going to start applying to traditional nursing programs. Congrats to those that got IN!
  8. I have a feeling the switch from the old application process to the new Common Application process this year may have something to do with the additional delays. Usually when new procedures or processes are implemented, there are kinks and glitches along the way. I'm pretty anxious too, but I can't say I harbor any ill will. After all, they can afford to be selective and for good reason.
  9. Wow. Some GREAT info from some of the current students! Thank you SO much for the value you have added to this thread.
  10. I mean this in the nicest way... Some of you need to step back from the keyboard and take a breather. Spring is here, try not to let THE WAIT get to you. Enjoy your family and friends, because once you get in (you WILL), you won't be spending as much time with them.
  11. Got my 2nd rejection letter from MSU today. Between last year's application and this year's, I took another class outside of the prereqs and began volunteering in the ER at Children's Hospital. My suspicion is that my 2.8 undergrad GPA at MSU keeps sinking me and I'm not sure I buy that "holistic" line.
  12. Just posting to register my complaint with the Common Application!!! What a headache -- I feel sorry for applicants that are less proficient with computers than I am.
  13. Another applicant here. I graduated from MSU in 2003 with a BA in Communication. Had a change of heart and along with it, a change in career. To get around this, I applied to the university as an English major. Problem solved (for me); they will update the major to nursing once you matriculate. Mid-February? Dear God, help me. I am getting married in June and would love to have an answer sooner than that so I can start looking for apartments for the wife-to-be and I. I found the difficulty level of community college classes to match (or exceed) the difficulty of classes at Michigan State. Admissions folks do not "look down" on community college courses at all, so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Waiting until the last minute, on the other hand...
  14. Heya fellow Spartan! I found out by snail-mail; but I probably SHOULD have been furiously logging in to Wolverine Access like everybody else.
