I received my acceptance letter from UofM for the accelerated program the end of January. I submitted my application August 14th. I received my acceptance letter from MSU for there accelerated program the end if November (Thanksgiving time). I submitted my application to them by October 1st. My GPA was a 3.4. Just looking at my prerequisites for both schools it was higher between a 3.5 and a 4.0 somewhere. Good luck!

Yes, I know of one person who was accepted off the waitlist. She heard in mid-May back from them. I think they told her there were 5 others attending the late orientation session with her. Good luck!

When I was not getting into MSU's traditional program I got into University of Detroit mercys. I did not end up going there, so I can't give you much detail but it seemed easier to get into than some of the others. Good luck

I had to pick either UofM's accelerated or MSU' after I said no to UofD. I finally chose UofM for their reputation and that my boyfriend would be in Ann Arbor also. MSU had said no to me 3 times for their traditional program so it was nice to tell them no for once. Also I did not want to live in Detroit. Good luck.

I was accepted there with a 3.4 GPA from MSU with a B.S in Psychology. I did not have all course work finished when I was accepted either. I have no comment on the program because I chose to attend else where. Good luck!

I really do not know what or if they have a cut off. I think it is a good thing however that you have been increasing it. I know that really helped me that I was able to say each semester I have been able to increase my GPA. I also explained in my essay of why my course work was not has high as I would like it during the period of time when it was low. Good luck!

Spend a lot of time writing some good essays. If they do rolling admissions again get you application in as soon as it opens. I did not have a high undergrad GPA (3.4), but it did not seem as important as the nursing prerequisite classes. Good luck, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

i will be starting the second career accelerated nursing program at the university of michigan in the fall. they are not requiring us to purchase a pda but said that we could get one of any kind of we wanted to. do you think they are worth getting? if so, what kind do you recommend and what software do you recommend? thanks!

Yes, I had taken Pharmacology (350) before I applied to the accelerated program. I have not taken BMB 200 yet, I will do this the second half of the summer and it does transfer to UofM and UofD. Look at their website and it will show the classes you need and the transfer guide will will tell you what courses transfer from what schools. For UofM if the course is not listed they have it set up where you send in a transfer guide and they will tell if it transfers. You will need to do this before you apply anyway for courses not listed on their website. Good luck

jasmine, try to get your gpa up as far as you can. i got mine to a 3.4 by the time i applied to the accelerated program, and it seemed to make a difference. for uofm the biggest thing is to apply right in august when the application opens. i know you don't have to hand it in until november, but the earlier the better if they do rolling admissions again! also i feel like uofm really looked at the essay questions a lot, so spend a lot of time on those. for msu i really don’t know what changed. i was denied to the traditional program 3 times and then was accepted into the accelerated program. my gpa was a little higher for the accelerated (from 3.3 to 3.4). i spent a lot of time on my essay for that one as well, make yourself stand out and show your passion. also for msu i had some really good letters of recommendation (however, one was the same as the last two applications). i had some volunteer experience for both applications (not a lot just a few days at two different hospitals). i think that because i had applied three times before and really made it clear that nursing is what i want to do might have made a difference. i also applied to the university of detroit mercy and got accepted. however, they seemed really unorganized and i did not want to go to detroit. it was also a lot more expensive there than any where else because they are private. good luck! cassey

No, for 2009 they did not open up the application until August. So if they do the same rollling admissions they will open up the application in August and then you can submit it anytime after it open until November. However, the ealier the better because of the rolling admissions. They told us at a preview day for fall of 2009 that next year they will be accepting even more application than this year (64) and I think they said 72 for next year. Good luck.
