Hello! I am wondering if anyone has been admitted to the part time FNP program at UM. I applied this week & I am looking forward to hearing back from them in regards to my application. I would like to know how long to wait after submitting your application through Nursing CAS ? Any information regarding the admission process and the part time program in general would be greatly appreciated

did you take a travel position? Or is it a full time spot?

It's full time, just hope their flexible with my school schedule. I'm happy to be on dayshift finally lol

Good morning! I just finished a full time semester and will be starting part time in the spring. I hope to make some friends going in as all of my other cohorts are moving on... :(

Have you guys traded numbers or had a meet and greet yet? I would love to make a new study group.

Yes I agree with creating a fb group. It will b helpful to ask questions during the courses and know somebody might answer soon.

FNP adult gerontology 2016-part time. Which is the one that starts in spring.

Yeah that would be a good idea! Also I spoke to Mrs. Perez an she said we will be getting more info this week regarding orientation, so look out for that. Also regarding parking for this semester, not to worry about obtaining a parking permit since they don't issue tickets after 4:30p and that is when class is.

I am an RN with a bachelors in biology. Did any of you get accepted without a BSN to the UM FNP program?

Hiya!! So I finally moved and am getting settled. What has everyone heard regarding employment while in the program? Though I am in the acute care program PT (that page is not very active), I imagine the same advice is given to FNP pt program. I have always worked in the ER and am looking for a PT ER position but havent come across many. However, I have seen quite a few postings for FT ER positions but am hesitant to take on a FT position knowing the road ahead... Any advice? I worked a hospitality job 3 nights a week while doing my BSN at UCF full time and ended up having to leave the job. What has everyone heard regarding working while in the program?

Daniella, I am also in the acute care program. I am working full time as a traveling nurse in the ICU at Kendall Regional Medical Center. When I was going through the application process I asked multiple times about work and was told that a good portion of the students were working throughout the program. Now I'm not sure how many were full time, but I don't really have another option. I know that Kendall is hiring in the ED but also in the ICU that I am working in. The ED is always very busy and they just recently started taking trauma at Kendall so there are a lot of new patients. I'm not sure if you would consider the ICU, but I would imagine it would be great experience that would compliment your current work experience. The ICU is a 40 something bed combined unit so it has medical, surgical, burn trauma, neuro and open heart patients. You really get to see everything.

On a side note, I am currently working on the Writing express unit #6. Is all of this material due on the 23rd like they originally said, or are we trailing into the following week? It's not a huge deal, but it just appears like most people are in the same spot as me in the discussion forums and that is a lot of grading for the instructor to complete in time for us to do the unit 7 writing by Wednesday.

Just try to submit by dec 28, because the professor goes on vacay, per her email. I already printed my Writing express certificate and only am missing statistics module to print the other cert.

For those asking about employment, I am currently with an agency (Parallon) working Per diem in various HCA hospitals in south miami (kendal, mercy, jackson). It has worked for me cuz I can choose when to work once or twice a week, depending on study load.

merry christmas to all.
