University of Miami FNP 2016

Hello! I am wondering if anyone has been admitted to the part time FNP program at UM. I applied this week & I am looking forward to hearing back from them in regards to my application. I would like to know how long to wait after submitting your application through Nursing CAS ? Any information regarding the admission process and the part time program in general would be greatly appreciated

Oh also, for anyone living down there already.. Any tips on places close to live near campus? South of Aventura for sure... Would like to eliminate as much I-95 traffic as possible. I think I remember them saying classes are about 3 days a week, depending on the semester.

I'm familiar with Broward county (used to live there) and somewhat familiar with Miami..

Since I'll probably only work PT I'm hoping we can find a 2 bedroom for under $1500 🙏 But I know Miami is more expensive than Orlando.

Congrats! I think you will be able to find a place for that price range. I have been looking at houses because I have 2 herding dogs and they are 1,600-1,800. That is for a 3-4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house.

I plan on working per diem or part time. As for living situation, I'm not quite sure yet. I've been looking quite a bit but not positive where I want to live. UMiami has a roommate finder website but there aren't too many options at the moment.

congrats to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have a question i anyone here FNP? I know a couple of you guys are acute! as for living situation i live in Pembroke Pines and i will be commuting which will stink but its doable... I did it for my BSN when I went there... I remember back then people rented out houses together really close by. I just have no idea how much they were paying. Do we have to do anything to sign up for those preparation courses ?

Quinnk.. Thanks!

I was looking last month and living options seemed bleak, but upon a few minutes today I saw a few possibilities.

I spoke with a friend and she mentioned Coral gables, coconut grove (can be a bit more pricey), sunset place for a few options!

Craigslist has a decent number of apartments/roommate options too. Just be weary of scams and def bring a friend!

Cmgg: I haven't paid my $1500 yet, as I just found out today.. So I don't have much info for the prep course.

(Oh I'm doing the acute). Really glad they have a prep course though.. Such a smart idea!

If I hear anything I'll be sure to post!

For my FL people: how long did the background check/ screening process take until you got the OKAY from UM?

Hiya!

I just read in my email that once the enrollment fee is paid, to email them so they can grant access to the online prep course...

My letter says to email Daphne at the SONHS once the payment is submitted to CaneLink.

Hope this helps.

Congrats to everyone who got in! I emailed Daphne an she sent me an email about the online APP class on Oct 26, an how to register via blackboard. Also Looks like We have the choice of choosing Patho or Pharm on either Tuesday or Thursday 4:30-7:30pm for spring.

Thanks Josie!!

Just read over the email myself! Class 2-days a week doesn't seem bad at all! :-)

I got accepted too! Congrats to all of you!

Is anyone else having trouble gaining access to blackboard and the APP. I registered with a cane ID and called the help desk and they couldn't get me set up. I emailed daphne a little earlier today. Hopefully she can help sort it out. Super happy that class is only twice a week. I was worried about schedule conflicts.

Yeah they said we have to submit the course request form first an then we can go on blackboard
