Hello! I am wondering if anyone has been admitted to the part time FNP program at UM. I applied this week & I am looking forward to hearing back from them in regards to my application. I would like to know how long to wait after submitting your application through Nursing CAS ? Any information regarding the admission process and the part time program in general would be greatly appreciated
Hi Daniella!! DOn't be freaking out! You will do amazing! I only got one clinical scenario question regarding fever. No patho but rather treatment and assessment as a NP. I really hope we all make it in and we can put faces to the usernames. Congratulations to all of the accepted!! I am still hoping to hear something back soon.
I work in a medical icu which also pretty much takes any kind of patient. I don't think they are going to ask I anything super specific. Also, if you think about it, there are no nurses who know everything. Everyone has their strong and weak areas. If they happen to stump you just make sure you don't try to make something up. Say something like "I have not come across this situation much in my specialty" or "this is one of my weaknesses and I would need to use my resources and support on the unit to make sure the patient's needs are met." It just shows that you know your limitations and know when you need help to maintain safe patient care. Sometimes these things are just as important.
Thanks Cmgg78!! Fever is good one! I can see how this would be an overlooked topic but makes complete sense that they asked a question on it. Im pretty sure this is the last week of interviews, mine is tomorrow... Im sure you will hear something next week. Thank you for the tip!!! Hope we all get to meet!
Thats a great tip Quinnk27 if I get stumped. And youre right theres no one nurse who knows everything! In the ER, working as a team is critical!!! You and your pt will drown otherwise. I have only been a nurse for 1 year, I graduated with honors for my BSN and while I "know" my stuff there is only a certain amount I have been able to put into practice in the ER. Ive seen a lot but Im also so new. I am going to review my ACLS, Stroke and MI topics since they are a major occurrence in the ER. But also, skim the fast track pt like fever, allergic reactions etc...
Thank you again!! I hope I get the opportunity to meet all of you!! Im loving the camaraderie already.
Hey Josie! I'll let you know if I hear of anything. Maybe check on a UM fbook group or if you are in driving distance to campus... Check out the common areas for postings. And yes.. It is expensive!!
Totally off topic, but how long did it take for everyone to hear back after their interview?
Also, does anyone know when UM starts the "boot camp" and registration for classes?
Fingers crossed I did well enough on my interview to meet you guys!! ðŸ™ðŸ™ðŸ™
