University of Miami FNP 2016

Published

Hello! I am wondering if anyone has been admitted to the part time FNP program at UM. I applied this week & I am looking forward to hearing back from them in regards to my application. I would like to know how long to wait after submitting your application through Nursing CAS ? Any information regarding the admission process and the part time program in general would be greatly appreciated

That's awesome. I applied to the ACNP program. I heard that they received everything and would be reviewing the application.

Will you let me know how your interview goes and any suggestions on what to expect? Some of the posts said to review pathophys and pharm.

I also applied for the FNP fulltime program which begins August 2016. Called today to inquire about the status of my application and was told it was complete and I should be hearing from them before March 30th. I am so nervous. I graduated nursing school 2 years ago so I am definitely rusty and have forgotten a lot of things. I also have no hospital experience. I have been working at a preventive health care company but no patient interaction. I have a 3.8 GPA, I hope this helps my chances! Nervous about the interview!!

Goodluck to all.

I received email today. I interview for the ACNP program next week. Little nervous.. Ok. A lot nervous.

I interview Wednesday @ 10:15! I'm super nervous about the patho and pharm questions. I've only worked in the NICU since nursing school and our treatment and meds are obviously a ton different than "big people." I'm from Dallas so will be flying in. I'll keep y'all updated(:

I'm sure that they take this into consideration when asking the clinical questions. Good luck! I'll be there on Tuesday @ 340pm.

Hello!

I have couple of questions..how long is the personal statement? ---1 or 2 pgs

Is the full time program only ONLINE?

Thank you!

Applepie2013- There was not a specified length for the SOP so i did 2 pages which is what I found to be standard. The full-time and part-time programs are both on campus, but from my understanding the difference is how many days/week you have to be on campus.

Appleepie2013- unfortunately I can't read your message because I'm a new member. feel free to email me at [email protected]

Good luck today!! Let us know how it goes!!

Interview was with the director and an professor. It was fairly open and relaxed. They want to know where you see yourself in 5 years and what role you see for the ACNP. The clinical questions are asked based on scenarios and the director come up with them as she went. There wasn't a set script or anything. Mine was a post op nephrostomy patient and a vtach patient. Good luck to everyone interviewing.

Interview went great, it was actually relaxed and more conversation about the program. It was the director and a professor, and both were very sweet and personable. (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) (grad services rep) said they present to the committee on the 29th and then she will try to get everyone that interviewed notified within a week or 2 after they meet. So fingers crossed!!!((:
