Anyone applying to the University of Miami ABSN program for next summer 2012?

Hi all:

The background check took about 2 months for me. The background check itself turns around in a day, the drug screen takes about 3 days, but the FBI fingerprint screening took 2 months. Some peoples got returned to them because the FBI said the prints were not legible. I sent 2 extras in the packet so they could pick and choose to avoid this problem. Go to umbackcheckdotcom( the dot is an actual .) just we cant post links on here, and get the process started. Mine was $95.00. med calc ISBN 0323056296. GL :)

thanks for the info!

I found this website that helps people find apartments/condos. There is no fee to use this realtor company. I will be calling them around November because thats when people are leaving their places. I will be looking for a roommate preferences: 2/2 apartment, nursing student, quiet, clean, nice. My budget for a apartment is between 500-675 a month for rent. Also, you can get started on your immunization paperwork here is the link for the requirements: http://www6.miami.edu/student-health/pdf/ImmunizationFormNursing.pdf

Hi Grace! Do you mind if I get your email address so I can ask you some questions about the UM? I was just accepted for Spring 2012!! :) Thanks!

I am so excited to be accepted to the UM Spring 2012!!! Is anyone planning on commuting? I currently live in Deerfield Beach and didn't know if it was possible to commute to Coral Gables for one year. Where are the clinicals held? Thanks! :yeah:

Congrats gbab on getting accepted! I'm from Boca and I had to be in the coral Gables area for a week for my job. I can tell you its possible but I wouldn't suggest it. I had to be in coral Gables at 7am. So I had to be up no later than 5. Mind traffic is not bad at that time but the drive is long. I got off work at 5 and the driver back to boca was painful. When I went down to UM for a nursing info session, it was raining and it took two hours just to get from boca to UM because if rush hour and accidents

I paid for my background check package on Sunday. I just got my back my results just now on Tuesday. Now I'm just waiting to get in the mail the drug and fbi fingerprints packages.

I've been accepted as well and will be attending in the spring. Yay

I'm concerned about where to live. I don't know if I should live on campus or find an apartment but i dont really know the decently priced nice areas to live.

Congrats on your acceptance! Since we are second degree students, we are not able to live on campus. There a lot of decently priced places. It just takes time. I've been looking around for a month already. A site that has been quite useful for me is padmapper dot com (dot is actually a .) It's basically uses google maps and aggregates different sources such as craigslist, apartments.com, rent.com and others into one map.

Congratulations! I think we need to start a facebook group for our class so we can begin introducing ourselves and helping out each other.
