Anyone applying to the University of Miami ABSN program for next summer 2012?
Hey Kayla729,
Heard from SONHS today, they said my application was deferred until May, because I still have so many prereqs in progress. It's a shame, since I am only taking 11 credits, but I guess when there are so many competitive applicants with their coursework already completed, that's how it is. Good luck with your application!
congratulations to all who have been accepted. Has anybody started looking for apartments? If so, have any suggestions on where to look? I'm moving from Pensacola, so I'm not familiar with the Miami area.
I'm beginning to look for apartments too. Two sites that I found to be very useful aside from the usual apartment.com apartmentfinder.com are padmapper (which puts together those sites and craiglist listings together on google maps).
As for suggestions, it depends on how much you want to spend etc. I was told if I do want to live slightly far away to be close to the Metro Rail since its convenient. I actually went down yesterday to check the area.
I'm in the process of filling out my application for U of Miami ABSN program and I just want to make sure that I understand the application process. It seems like all you have to do is fill out the Common Application online as a transfer student, am I right?
Also, the essay seems so generic, all it asks is to "Provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve." What type of material do most applicants write about? Does the school give any suggestions for what they would like to here in an applicant's essay? Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks, Stacy

Hi Stacy,
If you have more than 30 college credits, you only have to fill out the Common Application, the Common Application Supplement, the Common Application College Official's Report (must be filled out by your college's advisor and faxed directly to UM's Office of Admissions by an official in the Dean of Students office), submit at least one letter of recommendation, and transcripts from other institutions. Just to make sure I'm not forgetting something, please see http://www.miami.edu/index.php/ug/applying/transfer_application_documents/ -it lays out every requirement a transfer student must fulfill. Hope this helps! Best of luck :)
