University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I just wanted to start this thread for anyone interesting or planning on applying to UM for spring 2015. I am finishing up the pre-requisites I need...doing micro class and lab. So far those are the only things I know I have to take. I'm extremely nervous, mainly because of the waiting game to see if I'm accepted or not.

I had to take over class, so I am not too happy about that either, so that also makes me a little down.

Also when I called the other day, someone said they are changing the application process, did anyone else hear that information?

Are you guys finish with all your pre-requisites?

Do you know how much repeating a class puts you in the hole for not getting accepted?

I applied mid October and I have not even received a Canelink email. I have contacted the school several times and last week they said I should receive something this week, but it's the end of the week (Friday) and still nothing. How about you?

hey there i'm applying for fall. does anyone know how they convert quarter to semester units?

Try to sign up for Canelink yourself, maybe there's something there. I did, even though I haven't received my Canelink email either.

does anyone have the email address of someone to contact? i emailed the nursing program but i have not received a reply.

Hi everyone, congrats to all of you who were accepted! I was recently accepted to the master's family nurse practitioner program at UM- I also did the accelerated program a few years ago so I know exactly what you will be going through and how busy you will be with studying. I'm from Boca and I am currently working at a hospital in Miami but now that I have been accepted to the FNP program, I will have to move to Miami for sure. Looking to live in the Brickell/Downtown/Miami River area or Coral Gables :)

This petition is for Miami Dade College to change it's Accelerated Option Nursing Program (AO-RN) from an Associates to a Bachelors. It is also requesting that those who have already matriculated through the program be given the opportunity to complete their BSN in one semester.

Hi Everyone,

Congrats again to everyone who got accepted. I look forward to meeting you all in person and learning with you!

I haven't received anything about background checks or fingerprinting. I'll call them tomorrow. Do we also need to be CPR-certified before we start classes? I'm trying to plan out everything I need to before I head down from NYC.

I, too, am looking for a roomie. I don't know if I can get or send PMs since I just signed up. Thanks.

Yes, we must be CPR certified before you start clinicals. UM only accepts the AHA BLS for Healthcare providers course. Try to find one that offers a student discount if you can.

Thank you pipmunk! Really appreciate all the help and info you've provided everyone here.

Hey Kayla! Do you have any input or advice for those of us entering the accelerated program this spring? Any feedback would be great :)

I'll second this. I would definitely appreciate some advice.

Hi,

Has anyone heard anything in reference to uniforms, books etc?
