University of Miami Accelerated BSN spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone, I just wanted to start this thread for anyone interesting or planning on applying to UM for spring 2015. I am finishing up the pre-requisites I need...doing micro class and lab. So far those are the only things I know I have to take. I'm extremely nervous, mainly because of the waiting game to see if I'm accepted or not.

I had to take over class, so I am not too happy about that either, so that also makes me a little down.

Also when I called the other day, someone said they are changing the application process, did anyone else hear that information?

Are you guys finish with all your pre-requisites?

Do you know how much repeating a class puts you in the hole for not getting accepted?

Uniforms are in, if your close to the bookstore stop by and try them on the sizes are weird. Pants ran lrg. and shirts ehh, but that's just on me.

did anybody else out there get an interview for the scholarship that is through the hospital? i was told 12 others students were interviewed so im wondering if anyone else has heard anything back from the committee?

Congratulations on everyone who has been accepted so far! I also received my acceptance notification via CaneLink last week thursday :roflmao: I'm so excited! Anyone that is still waiting on UM's decision, keep your hopes up! I think they're doing it in order of applications (whoever turned in theirs first).

I see a lot of you guys have been commenting on living arrangements. I live in fort lauderdale so it will be quite a commute for me- I can't move any closer because I own my home and have a family, so I'll have to suck it up with the traffic for the duration of the program.

For those that had been accepted a couple of weeks back, can you guys share what you have done so far since turning in your deposit?

thanks!

Hello... I was just accepted into the Summer 2015 ABSN program at UM. I noticed that you said you live in Ft Lauderdale and commute to UM everyday. I will be in the same boat living in Miramar. How is the commute and how long does it normally take you to get there in the mornings? How many days a week do I have to drive to campus and where have your clinicals been so far? I am writing to you specifically because I feel that I will be closely in the same boat! Thank you!

Can someone add me to the facebook group!!

Hi, Can I ask you how was the accelerated nursing UM program? How difficult/intense was it?

Specializes in NICU.

Hi!

The accelerated program is definitely intense, they pack everything into 3 semesters, however it is totally doable! If you do plan on attending make sure you have enough time to dedicate to studying to stay on top of it all, it is definitely not the program where you can leave things off to the last minute.

I hope this doesn't discourage you, but you do need to know what you are getting into. :)
