I started this thread for those who've been accepted or are waiting to hear about acceptance to the UM's Accelerated BSN program that begins Fall 2010. I'm excited to meet my future classmates!
What is everyone doing about housing?
Financial aid/loans?
For non-locals: are you planning on visiting?
What is everyone's backgrounds?
I applied in late January I think, but didn't have my transcripts in either until the beginning of February. I believe that most of us received our acceptance letters in mid-Feb.
Lion4nwinter, when did you apply and how long did it take before you receieved your acceptance letter? I completed my application on March 1.:)
Hi!
I applied March 1 and am dying to get in. JoeNurse, did you have a contact at U of M that you met with? I am also from NYC and would totally fly down if it helped in anyway. I just received an email that my application was complete but I would like to put in a little more effort to see if it helps at all.
Congrats guys! I hope to join you in 2010!
I just got my acceptance letter! I'll see you guys in August!
If there's anyone who's looking for a roommate, by the way, let me know. I lived in Miami for five years, but have been in Deerfield the past year and will be moving back. I'd rather live with someone else in the program than live alone.
BTW, for those still waiting... I applied about a month before the deadlines, but my current school took forever to get the dean's confirmation in the mail and I was still speaking with them regarding grades as of a week or two ago. I don't know when exactly my acceptance letter posted on myum, but I saw it today.
Hi everyone,
I got accepted to Miami's program in February. I am from Pittsburgh and currently I am finishing up my first bachelor's at Pitt-I graduate in May :yeah:yay! Anyways I'm still hearing from other schools and have yet to commit to UM but I wanted to see if you guys have any impressions of the program and the areas to live in. This would be a BIG move for me. I don't have a car either...which I hear is tough in Miami. Everyone I talked to said UM was a respectable school and it seems like there are a lot of choices for clinicals. Ahhh decisions decisions
Thanks!

If you dont mind me asking...what was ur gpa? I'm in the process of applying there for the 2011 start.
I'm starting UM in the fall. My GPA was 3.8 overall with a 4.0 in sciences. According to the acceptance letter, there was about a 20% acceptance rate for the fall semester this year. During the info session I went to last year they said it's usually around 40%, so I guess the program has gotten more competitive over the past year.
I had a gpa of 3.4 and a prereq gpa of approximately 3.7. In my case I think they probably noticed the marked improvement in my grades recently compared to my first 2 years of school. Organic chem did not help me too much gradewise thats for sure . I bet any sort of volunteering experience definitely helps if you are worried about your grades...Good luck!!!
Btw, does anyone know approximately how big the accelerated class is?

I applied in December, but didn't have all my transcripts in until mid-February. Got an email asking about where/when I would be finishing my last pre-reqs a week later.
