Johns Hopkins new grad 2011
Hi all! I am hoping for some advice about finding positions at JHH that would accept a new grad. I applied for a I-M and promptly received an email saying I needed one year of experience. As other new grads that got interviews: what was the position level that you had luck with? Thanks!!!

Georgetown ABSN Fall 2011
Hey AEP, I didn't apply for the Scholars either, I just know I don't want to work in DC for three years. Well, I think it is closer to 90K for the year and a half based on some of the graduated students. I have talked to a lot of the nursing admins that I work with about how they hire and to be honest, they look at the applicants school but GTown doesn't hold much weight against other top 20 schools. Sure, they will hold a GTown grad higher than a CommCollege grad, but if the applicant has attended any strong school, they are all the same. They look at previous experience, clinical rotations, etc. They do see GTown as a good school but there are so many other schools that don't have that financial burden. It is a tough choice, but I look to the NCLEX passing rates, their funding from NIH and their clinical rotations (My goal is to rotate through a Magnet hospital) and WHC is not a Magnet. I know they are working towards it though. It is a tough choice, good luck! I am sure you will get a great education no matter where you go. All of this said, I am still going to the Admitted day to see the facility. -NYC

Georgetown ABSN Fall 2011
Hey all, Did everyone get the water bottle today? =) It was a nice surprise. I have not really been considering Gtown because it is so expensive but this woo-ing is pretty nice! Now that I have almost all my choices in front of me, the decision making is so difficult!

Georgetown ABSN Fall 2011
Great response! Thanks for the feedback. I think the emphasis on Nurse Leadership is important too. It has been a tough choice since I didn't expect to get into more than one and I just want to make the right choice. My biggest concern is finding employment right afterwards at a strong hospital. Thanks again, I will think about your comments. Happy Monday! and we should hear by Friday!!

Congrats Louise! Great news! I have a question for all you guys that applied. How are you ranking the schools? A lot of people I have read have GW or Georgetown as their top choice, but when I started ranking the schools by quality (based on NIH grants and USNews ranking) and price, and length, GW and George dropped to the bottom of the list. I have to let GW know this week and was thinking about how other applicants have ranked them so high. Any feedback would be appreciated!!!!

Georgetown ABSN Fall 2011
Just a general question for all the Georgetown applicants (I am one too). It sounds like a lot of you have George as your top choice. I am curious why since they are not ranked in the top 10, and are so incredibly expensive, and are longer than other programs. I guess as I think about where I go to school next year, I am curious how other applicants are ranking their potential programs. So far I have created a sort of spreadsheet with length of program, cost (overall, including cost of living), Clinical site location (quality of hospitals), NCLEX passing rate, overall ranking of the program (both through USNews and NIH funding). What do you guys think?

Thanks guys! I have been waiting impatiently so this was a nice surprise. I will message you guys with my stats, but I have tons of healthcare experience and great references so I think that might have been it. DLRosen, I don't know what I will do. I got into Pitt too and they are ranked 7 in the country and have a huge sim center. I am not sure how to make the decision. Good luck guys, I am sure you will all be hearing soon.

University of Florida Accelerated BSN Program Fall 2011
Hi all! I am also waiting to hear back. I spoke to Ken last week and he said that they were still processing the applications. They received a lot of apps this year and a lot close to the deadline so it is going to take some time. He couldn't give me an exact date or month, but he is working as fast as he can. Good luck everyone! NYC
