U.S.A. Florida

Published

I started this thread for those who've been accepted or are waiting to hear about acceptance to the UM's accelerated BSN program that begins Fall 2010. I'm excited to meet my future classmates! :yeah:

What is everyone doing about housing?

Financial aid/loans?

For non-locals: are you planning on visiting?

What is everyone's backgrounds?

Hi Bubbles125!

like ALM2010, I also had a hard time finding this thread...for some reason it does not come up when you type in "university of miami", you have to specifically type in "university of miami fall", strange huh? I'm also really excited to meet our new classmates!:yeah: I definitely need to start getting all the financial aid stuff worked out, have you started doing any of that/have any tips on it? So, I'm thinking of going to Miami in June to look at apartments, are you also going to visit before you go?

Hello I am Brittany, I just got in the program :) Is anyone on facebook or would like to trade emails? These threads get confusing! can't wait to meet everyone!

Hi Britt11! I'm so excited to hear of another future classmate! I just created a facebook group "University of Miami (Accelerated BSN Fall 2010 Cohort)" so all of us can join. These threads ARE confusing! Let me know if you have any trouble finding it.

I think I need to change the tags on the thread... Anyway, no I haven't even started to get my financial aid stuff straightened out, but I read some of the info on threads from previous years and they offer some helpful info. I would really like to visit before I go, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to... I'll let you know. Do you have a facebook account? I just created a group there and it's called "University of Miami (Accelerated BSN Fall 2010 Cohort)." Let me know if you have trouble finding it.

:smokin: Hey everybody,

I have just been accepted to University of Miami Accelerated Nursing. I am very excited, but the only thing that worrries me now is financial aid. Well, at least I know I will be going somewhere for nursing:yeah:. When do we have to send in the deposit? Are we allowed as second degree students to live on campus?:D

Congrats JoeNurse,

I paid my deposit the day after I got the letter. I am also starting on my financial aid...it worries me too!! I will most likely have to take out a loan :scrying:

If anyone gets any additional information from the school of nursing let me know. I am wondering when we will be notified about immunization, cpr certification, etc..

Congrats to everyone. Were you guys all Early Decision?

Not me. I applied during regular decision. I was accepted into the program way even before the deadline of March 1st. I called them up back in February and asked for a tour and a meeting with one of the advisors and it was granted to me. I traveled down to Miami from NYC, had a meeting with them on Feb 16th and by the 23rd I was accepted.....lol! I was kind of confused because they said that decisions were going to be mailed around April. I guess that they liked the fact that they could put a face and a personality to my application and they just accepted me right that week. So moral of the story is, sometimes (be aware that I stated "sometimes") is better to attack things in person and not rely too much on such a boring and impersonal process like the application process. GO THE EXTRA MILE......:)

Congrats to everyone. Were you guys all Early Decision?

I had all my paperwork done and turned in by December...so I think I may have been an early decision.

Looks like I got in! Woohoo! I got a notice on the UM online system. Has anyone gotten anymore information through snail mail? I'm particularly wondering about financial aid and the 3-year scholarship opportunity for the UM Hospitals. GPA: 3.4 cumulative, 3.7 pre-reqs.

Lion4nwinter, when did you apply and how long did it take before you receieved your acceptance letter? I completed my application on March 1.:)
