Hi all soon to be fellow classmates! I just wanted to start this thread up so we didn't have to go weaving through all of the older stuff on the old threads.
I am really excited about starting school come January, really nervous though too. I have a lot to get done between now and then and sometimes I just don't think there is enough time in the day. Oh well, I plan on enjoying the holidays and working my buns off to save some money so that isn't an additional stressor during the first semester.
So lets post our questions, our thoughts and hopefully just get to know one another! And again....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I haven't been on here in a while and reading this just stressed me out a little, but also made me excited!! I'll be living in Fayette so I hope it works out because it's pretty expensive. I haven't gotten my scrubs yet but you guys have me nervous now because I'm pretty short and don't want to be another Aladin...haha. But best of luck to everyone can't wait to meet all you Baltimore students NEXT WEEK!!! :)
Hi All,
I finished my 1st semster. Don't stress about the scrubs....anything goes-as long as top is white and bottom is khaki. Any style shoe is fine as long as its white-small logo is ok. Personally I got a paid of white Keds on sale and they worked really well. You can get much cheaper stethoscopes-don't have to get the $80 Littman. Google Lydia's uniforms-really great online store for all that stuff and shipping is fast.

graceland,
in terms of text books...were there some that were totally indispensable that we should definitely have before school begins (other than warnings I have heeded in reference to med-calc). or others you get the impression we would want to buy new and keep for many years. have had a lot of different advice on these pages in terms of waiting to buy from students that are selling used, buy now and be ready, buy from the bookstore during orientation, etc.
I am just looking at the daunting amount of money to spend, especially when including "recommended books" and don't want to act too soon even with discounted books that may be tough to return (I am usually eager to have books in hand before school starts). your opinion, fresh out of first semester, would be appreciated!
Hi Bsnbear-
Here is what I did and it worked well
N304-Intro to nursing practice
You will need the textbook and the mynursinglab CD as well as the suggested medcalc book. You will definitely use all of these throughout the semester. If you can get these used-even better.
Health asessment
You will need the health asessment book and the lab manual you will definitely use both extensively
Pharma
I bought both Lehne and Porth text books and have used both to a certain extent. I would recommend that you buy the previous edition b/c the info does not really change and you really use the books as reference if you don't understand concepts in slides, etc. Again-I would not buy these new but rather previous version or used.
You will not need any of the suggested books for this class b/c you will never use them.
I hope that helps...let me know if you need any add'l info.

Ok for 304 on the book list there is the
Kozier Fundamentals of Nursing - W/DVD listed at 112.95 ISBN: 9780131714687
and
Kozier Funamentals of Nursing Special Package listed at 215.20 ISBN: 9780138146559
I am confused as to which one is the one that brings the book and the mynursinglab that we need.
