  1. Thanks for the comments -- you're exactly right. I'll talk to my manager tomorrow.
  2. I'm just looking for some advice... I sprained my sacroiliac joint about 3 weeks ago - I don't know if I did this by lifting a patint or if I did it on my run shortly after work that day. All I know is it started getting sore when I ran and was absolutely excruciating by the time I woke up. Fastforward 3 weeks later, I'm still having trouble walking. I work in a busy ICU and coming to work means holding back tears for 12 hours straight. It's so painful. Despite physical therapy, I don't feel like I've gotten better because being at work means taking 2 steps back (big steps at that). I'm nervous to go through with short term disability, I feel bad for leaving my unit short staffed. Also just feel like since I can walk, they may think this is a silly reason to take leave. I only have one back. I'm only 27 years old --- I'm just sick of it. If this were you, would you go through with trying to take time off to heal? I really like my job and don't want to risk losing it. Thanks for any input...
  3. To calculate* autocorrect snuck in on me!
  4. Nursing CAS is a terrible company. I had everything in 2 weeks before the deadline yet my application cannot be submitted to the committee until they "verify" my transcripts. You've got to be kidding me. So while others are receiving acceptances... I'm waiting the 2-5 weeks for some low life to calculating my gpa. Just look at my transcripts for crying out loud! I'll calculating them myself if It's a problem. Customer service members are extremely rude and could care less. Filing a complaint and would encourage others to do so as well. This is unacceptable.
  5. Oh wow. I just put my application in last week. When did you submit? Congrats!! :) hope you have a few options!
  6. Hey everyone! Just wanted to see if anyone else applied for GW's NP program for the Fall. I applied for the FNP and I'm kind of surprised there aren't any threads yet! Anyway, I noticed that most of the applicants heard back in April and May for the 2011 cohort but their application deadline was March 15th so maybe we can hope for late March or early April? Anyone else waiting with me?!
  7. agreed. let's get rid of the mop!
  8. haha! LOVE it :) good story to keep in the back of my head tomorrow during clinical.
  9. My dad is a cardiologist. I'm a nursing student. Medical school is harder to get into. Sorry...but it's not harder to get through, especially if you compare it to a top nursing program that's extremely rigid and competitive. My school has a nursing school and a medical school so we're pretty close with some of the med students...sometimes I feel like they have more free time. Then again, they're only 1st year and concentrating on book work while we're concentrating on book work AND patients from day 1 (quicker pace). I guess that's what makes it "hard." Nursing is just hard because you need to learn a lot in a short period of time, as stated above, and you need to learn how to take criticism. That's tough. Really tough. We're not always going to do things right, and in such a short period of time you have to learn to jump back up and get things right when it goes wrong...if that makes any sense. You don't really get that much time between learning something and actually applying it, especially when you have an instructor hammering you with questions in front of your patient on your 3rd week of nursing school. :) For me, that's the hard part. Realizing that all of this information being shoved at you will come with time and lots of hard work. You could study for days and days and still not have the critical thinking skills but you'll find as you get through school they really start to shine through. That's just my opinion. Don't think medical school is harder or easier... in fact, they don't really compare.
  10. Everyone I know got the "please contact the admissions office" status. And two haven't heard anything. Still committee ready. Who knows.
  11. I've only heard of waitlisted people though. So not sure if anyone got in yet. Not sure how the waitlist works but I applied 2.5 mos late last semester and got waitlisted automatically. I found out 2 weeks later I got in so if you're waitlisted consider that a good thing! I think they had the most applications they've ever had this Spring! You can hear up until August but you'll most likely know by June or July. It's frustrating but don't get your hopes up for sure! :)
  12. many BSN statuses changed today... apparently...
  13. doesn't look like any BSNs have heard. CNLs heard first. BSNs may not even hear until late April... definitely doesn't mean you didn't get in so no worries!
  14. I'm not sure how many "first admits" have really even received anything... I've only seen one person on here. I'm friends with two new grads from UMCP with GPAs around a 3.97 and 4.0 science for their entire undergrad career that have not heard anything. Maybe they're referring to the 2+2 program applicants. Students that started out at UMBC or UMCP as freshman and finished their pre-requisites with a 3.0 or better receive an automatic acceptance. I think they're waiting on them...but I guess that theory wouldn't sit for the CNL program. You'll definitely hear by mid-april...just don't think about it!
  15. This topic has absolutely nothing to do with a CRNA...."Aesthetic" has to do with dermatological care. It has nothing to do with anesthesia. Sorry i just had to put that out there so other people aren't confused!
